About this deal

This title continues through to HM Queen Elizabeth II and then to Charles III, ‘ the oldest new monarch ever‘ Our tracking of the royal timeline is enabled through the guidance of Caw, a crow. Its confidence, presentation, fullness and form mean this book is satisfying, informative and highly entertaining. Plus this guide includes a unique feature, Palace connections, linking each monarch to our five historic royal palaces. Although Crofton does mention interesting and/or menial notes and facts; nothing is detailed and therefore the reader is not left with a solid image of any of the monarchs. Spanning from the Normans through to the House of Windsor, this exquisite little book captures the personalities behind the crowns and records the landmarks, traditions and events of each reign.

The various authors did excellent work providing just enough information to keep the story moving and whet readers' appetites for more while still maintaining brevity. Again the book focuses on just her rather than spending too much time on world events, but, whereas earlier the book criticized monarchs, here we start to see a do-no-wrong attitude, with no comment on how bad she was at parenting and how that ended up having a real impact on the world stage. An empowering and fun, relatable read for tweens, Royal Rebel presents a young girl growing up in a matriarchal community and navigating family responsibilities alongside school, friends and being herself. This is the story of her beloved first corgi, Susan, who accompanied Princess Elizabeth everywhere she went - even secretly riding in her glass carriage on her wedding day to Prince Philip!Amusingly, and hardly surprisingly, this became much more conservative as it got closer to the current day. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. There are lots of funny anecdotes like how William I (The Conqueror) was so fat he couldn't fit in his coffin. But then again, just how could you convince someone that it would be a good idea to spend a life doing whatever it is that Charles has been doing, without them being dumb as dog's shit? The King and the Sea is a collection of 21 extremely short stories that each feature the same little king.

It is even recorded that George II died on the toilet, a victim to constipation – well and the stodgy English diet, I assume - or presume. This book gives the reader detailed information about each ruler yet was concise enough to stay interesting. Being essentially the chronicle of a family over the course of a thousand years, the dramatical effect is heightened and thought-provoking lessons and examples (a few positive, but many negative) abound. Kings and Queens of England” is a small, colorful, glossy-paged book which is fit for a reference shelf (albeit a thin one) or a coffee table.I think I figured most out but in the process of reading about them I was disgusted by much of their behavior and cannot understand why people would want a monarch, even if not absolute. Written by the Waterstones Children's Book Prize-winning Julia Golding, The Queen's Wardrobe is packed with fascinating stories and astounding facts about our record-breaking Queen. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.
