About this deal

Women, especially those from marginalized groups, who want to build wealth through entrepreneurship. So, here's the action that I want you to take. Are you ready? You're going to be scared a little bit. But, I want you to be strong. Here's what I want you to do. I want you to double your prices. So, here's the thing. What I like to do, oh, and 70% of adults suffer from imposter syndrome, okay? So you're not alone. Even all the leaders that you look up to, they all suffer from imposter syndrome too. A breakdown of her household staff, much less Chrissy Teigen's, didn't feel super relatable, but hey! That's kind of the point here I think. But if the point of the book is to be rich enough, or aspirationally rich enough, to hire help, is the point of the book truly that we should ALL be millionaires...? Of course, you're going to have to make some mindset shifts, right? To get there. What got you here is not going to get you there. You're going to have to change your mind. That is the biggest thing that you have to change. You already have the skills, you already have the ability, it's just your mindset, right?

Rodgers has been featured in Time, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, the Washington Post, on NBC News, and Cosmopolitan. I was approved for a review copy of this one and started reading it the same day. I’m a huge personal finance nerd, and I am always looking for interesting information/advice about growing personal wealth (I have *lofty* goals of buying an affordable house and retiring one day, haha). This book was not at all what I expected. Why earning more money is not "selfish" or "greedy" but in fact, a revolutionary act that brings the economy into balance and creates a better world for all. Big picture view: The world would look different if women had more money and more power. For a better world, sure, but she also wants us to have lots of money for the things we want for ourselves and our families. And for more time, energy, joy, and peace of mind. For freedom.

If you’re looking for a saving and investing book, this ain’t it. This book urges you to make big moves that will pay off in huge ways, not just saving and investing safely until retirement. Personally, that’s not my style, and even though there’s some great motivation in here, I honestly don’t think it’s practical for my situation. However, there are cited cases throughout the book of women in my situation who started making huge amounts of money, so don’t let my personal preferences deter you. First off, no one is inherently good or bad with money. You aren’t born with an abacus attached to your hand or the natural ability to work a financial spreadsheet. Being “good with money” is an acquired skill. You can learn how to manage your money, make financial decisions, and take calculated risks. But I didn’t know that I needed to constantly surround myself with women who looked like me that were at the level I was trying to get to. I didn’t know that delegating work I wasn’t particularly good at or interested in would free up my time and mental space to focus on the work that really mattered to me. I thought I had to wait until I could afford it, and I wasted so much time and energy in the process. The information is basic, starting a small business, investing, et cetera. But where is the real help, where is the real information? No where. The basic premise is that women, and especially women of color, should have a million dollars in assets and/or earnings to build generational wealth. That's just a house, in many big cities of America. We KNOW that legislation will not save us from wealth inequality. I’m a diva. Y’all know this. And that means there’s nothing I hate more than answering to old white men. I’ve spent most of my life making sure that doesn’t happen. But I want to share a story with you today about a time when my fate was briefly in the hands of an old white guy.

My favorite idea in the book is that women being told to scrimp and save is not only sexist but the slAnd so I left the bank after talking to the branch manager. I got in my car. I had a really good cry, sobbed like a baby. And then I went home and I got to work. And here's what happened. I should have listened to my instincts - this was definitely not for me. If you’re worn out by the “look how rich I am, you can too!” life coaches and MLM “CEO” moms, this won’t be your cup of tea either. A more accurate summary would say “advice on taking better care of yourself, make common sense decisions, not running yourself ragged, listening to other people’s stories, and getting mad/depressed over social justicey sh*t all over again.” All of which are FINE subjects, but those books have been written before en masse, and are severely less compelling than what is advertised. I'm not an idiot, I know that reading one book won't make you a millionaire, but this is just another coachey fluff-fest in a whole sea of them, really.

This book was received as an ARC from HarperCollins Leadership in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own. It's tough to convince people of what I'm talking about, but hopefully someone will read this and buy something deeper on the subject of money and starting a line that leads to riches. We Should All Be Millionaires is a must-read not only to help you become more financially abundant and empowered, but also so that you can become a much-needed agent of change, equality, and equity that our world needs.' Product Details An easy-to-use Guide to my money management system, and instructions on how to spend time proactively reviewing your money every single week.
