A battery may be in poor health but it can still be charged fully, to 100%. It’s just that the charge may not last long, and the battery may no longer be able to deliver enough power to start the engine.Re. time period for sulphation - my understanding is that this process is not instant, but takes some time to occur - so the discharge / recondition cycle should not do any harm. So onto the leisure battery. I suspect over winter it got drained when the van was used on the drive for the camp out to help out and other adventures on the drive for the kids - diesel heater and LED lights used.
