About this deal

I can tell the poems are really personal and meaningful to the author and others with a similar experience.

mothers’ is particularly powerful ( when i look in the mirror, sometimes i see them, looking back, eyes droopy, weary from the weight of womanhood, tired of the throes of masculinity, patriarchy, white supremacy, they mourn it too. I also really loved the artwork, i think the cover and inside art is really beautiful and goes with the book contents really well. Roisin's] writing is intensely vulnerable and through revealing her own experience she reflects so many others. With that being said, most of the poems just end up lacking maturity and falling into every single postmodern poetry cliche imaginable. I would highly recommend this collection to any fans of poetry , or just if you want a collection as a starting point i would recommend this one too. It is also a collection that I have gifted because of how beautifully it is written and put together.

Fariha Roisin’s words combined with gorgeous detail by Monica Ramos and design by Diane Shaw is eye-catching and demands to be heard. A poetry compilation recounting a woman's journey from self-loathing to self-acceptance, confusion to clarity, and bitterness to forgiveness. This journal is a conversation starter on how to talk about what ails us only with our bodies so that we can start (finally, collectively) moving towards self love and acceptance on a holistic global level. this felt like a very twitter thread-y take on these topics with an occasional sprinkle of SAT words.I can't rate a life, and although I understood and resonated with some of the poems, or some bits of them, they don't speak about my own experiences. Being In Your Body (Abrams, 2019) is a journal for women, femmes and non-binary folks to work through body dysmorphia. I cannot rate someone's life experiences, but I can rate their poetic language, arrangement, sensitivity, since all of them are publicly open.was a much-needed history lesson, ruminating on the year where the Pakistani army invaded Bangladesh, committing genocide of three million Bangladeshis. Certains des poèmes étaient hyper poignants et émouvants, on ressent sa rage, sa haine, sa fierté, son amour. though some poems were very personal (i particularly liked “rumi” and “self portraiture”), the entirety of the book was distancing, and began to feel repetitive for me at around 30%.
