About this deal

An esteemed music critic and journalist, Hepworth provides us with a deep dive into the story behind the 91-year-old facility, a stirring narrative that mirrors pop music's twists and turns from its earliest days through the present. The narrative gets off to a good start with Anderson’s nostalgic memories of her childhood in coastal Vancouver, raised by very young, very wild, and not very competent parents.

Unprecedented access to the Abbey Road archive - from Edward Elgar to the Beatles, Kate Bush to Elbow the most famous artists in the world have recorded here.Even into the late ‘90s, rock bands (rare as they were at the time) like Travis were still coming to Abbey Road to see if they couldn’t capture a bit of the old building’s magic on tape. He is also the author of " Solid State: The Story of Abbey Road and the End of the Beatles," published in 2019 in celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary, " John Lennon, 1980: The Last Days in the Life" and the authorized biography " Living the Beatles Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans" (November 2023). Please Note: By their very nature, all signed books will have been handled several times before they get to you. It suggested that the record could even offer, in certain cases, something better than live music, something more mysterious, more narcotic, something which, over repeated listens, got under the listener's skin. Aller mest kjent for platene The Beatles spilte inn der, ikke minst fordi det siste bandet spilte inn i studioet fikk navnet Abbey Road.

Discovered on a Manhattan street in 2020 and introduced on Stanton’s Humans of New York Instagram page, Johnson, then 76, shares her dynamic history as a “fiercely independent” Black burlesque dancer who used the stage name Tanqueray and became a celebrated fixture in midtown adult theaters. I’ve spent my life with the music of The Beatles and Pink Floyd , for example, but now I feel as if I was there at the recording sessions. With " Abbey Road: The Inside Story of the World's Most Famous Recording Studio," David Hepworth affords readers a stirring history of the much-heralded studio and the magic that has transpired within its hallowed walls. The truth is the Beatles wouldn’t have been the Beatles without Abbey Road, and Abbey Road wouldn’t have been Abbey Road without the Beatles. He does a really meticulous job of here of charting the history of the world-famous studios, and it makes for a fascinating read.

I enjoyed it because I have lived through the many changes in how music is recorded and listened to. Even within the building, there were those in the early years who were only concerned with making record ings: faithful reproductions of live musical performances. While the main interest in this book is the arc of the impressive 90 year history of Abbey Road, I'd also recommend it to those interested in the histories of popular music, pop culture, the music business and music recording including all of its technical aspects. Abbey Road: The Inside Story of the World's Most Famous Recording Studios is a book which fills a gap in the market.
