About this deal

I just bought some large medela bottles! Do you use the same large medela bottle each time even though it’s a fridge temp and the milk going into it will be room temp? While lots of parents use formula pitchers or prepare formula in advance other ways, it is recommended to make each bottle right before feeding it to your baby if possible. 1 However, it is only safe to leave formula at room temperature for up to 1 hour once prepared. After that, prepared baby formula can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. 2 How long can formula be in the fridge?

What I found most helpful was considering a day from my second to last pump from one day until the second to last pump the next day because I wanted to go to sleep ASAP after the baby went to sleep and not have to wait until my milk cooled down to add it to the pitcher. I was an over producer, so this was easier for me than it might be for some people. But essentially, if my second to last pump was at 3 pm and then my last pump of the day was 7 pm- then I would fill up a new pitcher starting with the 7 pm pump. So, to hopefully make that more clear- after my 7 pm pump, I would put the 7 pm milk into a clean pitcher (remember I had 2 pitchers). Since no other milk was in that clean pitcher, I could just transfer the milk into there directly off the pump at 7 pm. And then I would take the milk from the full pitcher (which was the milk from 7 pm the day before until 3 pm that day) and used that to fill up the next day’s bottles and then freeze the leftovers, and then clean the pitcher. Creates a smooth formula texture: No shaking means no bubbles to create uncomfortable gas for your baby. This Dr. Brown Formula Shaker Pitcher is perfect for making formula milk. This jug works great throughout the day. It is easy to use, just add water and the amount of formula for the number of bottles you want to prepare and press the handle to stir. This technique helps remove air bubbles and makes the formula great for my kids. You do not feel gas or burp after drinking this formula. I highly recommend it!” —Walmart.com review Keep in mind: Using a formula pitcher lets you mix a larger batch of formula, up to 24 hours in advance, which you can pour into a bottle in the middle of the night. It saves time, and keeps your baby from getting wrongly mixed formula when you’re too tired to think straight. No more running warm water over a bottle in the middle of the night. The Dr. Brown’s deluxe bottle warmer will warm your baby’s milk to the perfect temperature with the touch of a button.

Last thing is that you definitely CAN combine milk from multiple days into one pitcher. Just remember that milk is good in the fridge for about 3 days. And you have to count from the day of the earliest milk in the pitcher. So if I have milk from Monday and Tuesday in a pitcher or bottles- I need to use it all by Wednesday. If I don’t- no problem! Then I just need to freeze it on Wednesday. Do you have any tips on how to scrap the fat off the Medela bottle? I can never seem to get it all off before putting it in the pitcher When you’re ready to bottle or pitcher prep, wash your hands and prep your bottles, nipples, and your pitcher, if using one, to be sure they are clean and sterile. 3 Mixing the baby formula I’m putting all my pumps in there for the day (after I let them come to fridge temp in separate bottles) then the same night divide them into bags and store.

thank you! I’ve been consistently pumping 30-35 ounces a day for about a week and a half now and my little guy drinks about 25-30 each day. Hopefully switching to the fridge method will make getting a few more pumps in doable! I’ve also noticed there’s a bit of fat left over in the medela bottle after I put the milk in the pitcher, do you worry about trying to get that into the pitcher? I did the pitcher method and it was SO helpful. I bought 2 pitchers, and essentially whatever I pumped that day was the next day’s milk. So I pumped, put caps on the bottles that I pumped into and just popped those into the fridge to cool down to fridge temperature. Then whenever I had a a minute and the bottles were cool, I would just swirl them and then dump them into the pitcher. At the end of the day, I would fill up all of the next days bottles and leave them in the fridge. So all of the bottles for the next day were made and waiting in the fridge. Then I would put an leftover milk from the pitcher into freezer bags and then wash the pitcher. Since I was filling up the pitchers a day ahead, this always worked really easily. So, to make it more clear, at the end of each day, in the fridge I had all of the baby bottles filled for the next day and an empty and cleaned pitcher ready to fill up throughout the next day. This was easiest for me because I could do all of the bottle filling and pitcher cleaning after the baby went down to sleep, and had all the bottles done for the next day and a clean pitcher ready to go before going to sleep myself.Dr. Brown bottles are touted by parents as the best option on the market to help soothe babies with colic and gas. After experiencing colic with his second child, family practice physician Craig Brown, MD, set out to design a bottle that would eliminate the air bubbles that got into the milk during feeding.

Dr. Brown’s narrow nipple really helped my baby to feed well. The slow-flow nipple works with the internal vent system for paced feeding. Each nipple has the same consistent flow rate, so my baby knows what to expect.” —Walmart.com review Keep in mind: If your home is supplied by well water, you will need to have your water tested to ensure it is safe for babies. Do not microwave baby formula I heard it changes their gut flora. Only had to supplement formula mixed with BM once when 3mo because I went on a work trip. Definitely was an adjustment and changed his poo texture, but not saying it's bad, just different. Clumps in your baby’s formula usually occur from rushed formula preparation. You’re in such a rush to get a bottle prepared for your hungry baby that you don’t mix the formula and water properly. Halfway through the feed, the nipple gets clogged with a clump, and you have to interrupt feeding time to fix it or attach a new nipple. How long have you kept that pumping schedule? My little guy is only 1 month and my pump schedule is similar to yours, I produce about 30 oz a day but I wonder if that will be enough long term.Dr. Brown’s bottles are some of the best rated and highly recommended bottles on the market, especially for babies with tummy issues or colic. However, that doesn’t mean they are a great fit for everyone. So in my fridge at all times, I had all the bottles for the day and a pitcher being filled with milk for the next day (plus the bottles from my most recent pump that were also in the fridge cooling down, waiting to be added to the pitcher). NEVER combine different temperature milk. My baby always had a hard time with every bottle out there but once I gave my baby this one baby took it right away with no problems.” —Walmart.com review Keep in mind: Should a formula pitcher be on your must-have list?
