About this deal

Royal Kludge is a Chinese gaming peripherals manufacturer that was founded in 2014 . Their main goal was to offer high-quality products at a very competitive price point. The company brought the RK61 to the market sometime in 2019. In terms of its switches, the RK61 features RK branded mechanical keyboard switches. Users can choose between red, brown, and blue switches. The keys are hot-swappable and up to five devices can be paired and stored in the device’s memory for later use. There is pro-driver support available(Windows only) and the battery has a capacity of 3,750 mAh. The keyboard can be connected in one of three ways — wired, Bluetooth, or 2.4Ghz wireless.

The review unit came with linear Red switches, whereas I tend to do my day-to-day work on the tactile Brown switches. Combined with the learning curve of typing on this 75% model, it was a whole new experience for me. Overall, despite the hot-swappable nature of the switches, they all felt well-seated without a lot of bounce to them. Expand your options using the available software to design your own new modes and effects. Macros with different keybindings or shortcuts for more efficient work and gaming. That left the Bluetooth connection. You can pair the keyboard with up to three devices, each accessed via the Function key in combination with Q, W, E. (Long pressing these combinations puts the keyboard into pairing mode.) The distance issues with the 2.4-GHz wireless mode just disappear, making the RK84 a decent choice for a living room keyboard, assuming your device has Bluetooth at all. I found that the keyboard was accurate even a good 14-16 feet away from my testing device. It almost makes me wonder why Royal Kludge added the dongle option at all. Battery Life The feel and sound is really good. A personal advice is 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐆𝐎 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐊 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 no matter how much you have to wait… GenesisPC provide you Gat red and yellow pre-lubbed. Get those. I swear you wont regret. (there isn’t really that big of a difference in sound between the two switches I just mentioned but yeah red feels fast cause of the less force to press them.) The Royal Kludge RK925 is arguably the company’s most innovative product. It features a unique foldable design as well as low-profile mechanical keys. It is a keyboard that is designed to be paired with mobile devices and is meant to be carried around.I am a macOS user so I immediately switched the layout over so that it was more compatible. To switch the layout to Mac, you press FN + S. I take one additional step and change the modifier keys in my System Preferences, too, so that my CMD and Option keys are in the right position according to Mac keyboard layouts. The Royal Kludge RK84 is another variation of the company’s original RK61 design. The main difference is that this model has an 84-key design (70% form factor) and uses 2.4 GHz wireless instead of Bluetooth. Believe it or not, RK84 is the first generation of RGB three-mode wireless keyboards on the market. Wireless mode with stable bluetooth 5.0, hassle-free 2.4Ghz dongle plus USB-C wired mode set no limits about your keyboard connection

Since then, the company has refined the original RK61 formula and expanded it into several other form factors. The company now currently has a mechanical keyboard offering for nearly every size. And while Royal Kludge isn’t deviating too much from their budget-oriented formula, their strategy has proven to be effective since they are still one of the go-to brands for budget-priced mechanical keyboards. Royal Kludge Keyboard Lineup Royal Kludge RK61 Royal Kludge RK61 And, of course, the typing experience and sound profile of RK keyboards won’t be as good as higher-end keyboards. For those who are looking to up their game with higher-end mechanical keyboards, there are plenty of brands such as KBDFans that fit the bill. Which Royal Kludge Keyboard To Buy? Royal Kludge RK61 The Royal Kludge Rk920 is the company’s full-size offering. Unfortunately, it does not inherit many of Royal Kludge’s essential features.

Hot-swappable

The keyboard is comfortable to type on. I did have to get used to the height of the keys. I’m used to a lower-profile keyboard but I still found the RK84 comfortable to type on. The RK84 is stylish and while it has a retro look to it, it’s also modern. The RGB effects are colorful and bright so they add a little special something to my workspace. Sorry for the long comment, but I hope this helps people get a better idea of what they are getting into. The only FLAW I can see is 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄! 𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐁𝐀𝐃! Tbh you wont need it much other than making macros also sometimes when you fast type it doesn’t register keys and you have to type the same thing again…but that might be my unit fault as I have not heard the same from anyone else. We recently reviewed the Royal Kludge RK87 Wireless TKL Mechanical Keyboard, which we thought was a decent 80% TKL keyboard that’s affordable and compact, offering RGB illumination, 3 onboard Macros, wireless connectivity, and tactile Brown switches. So the RK84 RGB Limited Edition which we’re about to review, should be just as good, if not better.
