About this deal

We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. This new edition is totally useless, because the traditional strong points of its format were thrown out the window. Get ready to experience the best of what Asia has to offer in Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore while earning points and enjoying exclusive benefits.

About Lonely Planet: Lonely Planet is a leading travel media company, providing both inspiring and trustworthy information for every kind of traveler since 1973. You’ll also find having a local phone number handy for meeting up with tour guides and making last-minute bookings on the road. After reading other reviews of this book, I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes the new format.Unless they send someone out to check every year, the excellently reviewed business could have been sold to some profiteer, and the information out of date.

Vietnam is probably not the most obvious place to visit on holiday although I think it's one of the more places to visit for students on their gap year. Didn't find sections on where to stay particularly useful as there were many good options not covered by book. Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Andorra, Angola, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Cape Verde Islands, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, European Union, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), Finland, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, Gabon Republic, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Guatemala, Guernsey, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jersey, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Montserrat, Morocco, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Niue, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Republic of Croatia, Republic of the Congo, Reunion, Romania, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Venezuela, Virgin Islands (U.I also like that it has summaries of areas, tips and tricks to look out for and narrows down the areas I want to stay in. The national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, has better service and comparable pricing if booked in advance. If you’re in one of the larger cities, ride-sharing apps like Uber and Grab are good, offering both car and motorcycle taxis. You’ll also find our content online, and in mobile apps, videos, 14 languages, armchair and lifestyle books, ebooks, and more, enabling you to explore every day. As motorbikes tend to drive closely to each other, keep your feet pointed inwards and think of wearing closed shoes which offer extra protection for your feet.

Item despatched quickly and as described, but damaged in transit due to plastic wrap packaging being inadequate protection. Instead they replaced it with highlights as if the entire book is some kind of a day trip special must see thing that makes everything really hard to distinguish. Sleep masks, ear plugs and noise-cancelling headphones (especially if the bus is playing music or movies) are recommended. Not even for recommended tour operators or guide companies are address or contacts indicated, only a name. Whether I was navigating bustling markets in Hanoi, exploring ancient temples in Hue, or relaxing on the pristine beaches of Phu Quoc, the Lonely Planet guide provided me with the guidance I needed to make the most of each destination.

And it's still a lot easier to open up a guidebook than to connect to the internet via phone or netbook, especially when you're in the wilds of Laos or Cambodia. Check out Lonely Planet Vietnam, Lonely Planet Cambodia, Lonely Planet Laos or Lonely Planet Thailand for a comprehensive look at all these countries have to offer. Even in the enclosed maps of Hanoi and HCMC there is no symbols showing these were the places recommended in the book.
