In 2 BBY, [9] after Saxon and his Super Commandos massacred the Mandalorian Protectors of Concord Dawn to punish their leader Fenn Rau for secretly allowing the rebellion safe passage through the Concord Dawn system, Saxon and his Super Commandos ambushed the Spectres Sabine, Ezra Bridger, and Chopper at the Protectors Camp on the Third moon of Concord Dawn. Following a skirmish, the Spectres managed to escape with the help of Rau. Despite being some of the coolest Mandalorians, Ahsoka episode 5 marks the first time Mandalorian super commandos have appeared in live-action. This is mostly due to the fact that very little live-action Star Wars material has covered content from The Clone Wars. Another reason they’ve never shown up is the in-universe short amount of time they existed. Darth Maul ruled Mandalore for less than a year, and while there were many Mandalorians who chose to follow him, most of were captured or killed during Ahsoka and Bo-Katan’s Siege.Saxon then deployed a new weapon against several Mandalorians under Ursa and Tristan. The weapon vaporized all the warriors except the Wrens. Saxon and Hark later set up a trap to capture the weapon's original creator, Sabine. At first, Saxon and Hark were able to force Sabine to enhance the weapon's range, but she was able to modify it to target Saxon's and his stormtroopers' armor. After Sabine destroyed the weapon, Saxon was killed as his Star Destroyer blew up. [3] Legacy [ ]
During the Galactic Civil War, the most famous Mandalorian was undoubtedly Boba Fett. A high-profile bounty hunter, he was set on the trail of Luke Skywalker and other Rebel heroes several times during the war, including one explosive confrontation with the young Rebel and future Jedi in Obi-Wan’s hut on Tatooine. Clan Kryze Mandalorians bring Skirmish Tactics to the table and this stance is somewhat unique because you get 2 different starting nodes in the combat tree. Right off the bat you get the choice of a shove or a pinned condition. Once you hit your third node you get another choice of either disarmed or exposed conditions. Sprinkle in a few shoves and that’s a good looking tree. Defensively they only get 4 defense dice in melee but that does go up to 5 at ranged. For ranged combat they get 6 dice at range 4 (which will more likely be 8 with the free focus and sharpshooter). In Melee, they only roll 5 and their expertise starts really slow at only 1 success but getting 2 crits for 3 expertise results isn’t too bad. Separatists

Fortunately, Rebel weapons expert Sabine Wren, an estranged member of a Mandalorian clan who hadn’t bowed to the Empire, defeated Saxon in combat. Doing so wasn’t just a personal victory, but a symbolic claiming of the Mandalorian legacy. Among their enemies were the Jedi, whose Force abilities were a match for the Mandalorians’ specialized armor. In response, the Mandalorians modified their standard armor to include beskar steel, which can deflect blows from a lightsaber, and diversified their arsenal away from blasters. Since Jedi are trained to deflect blaster shots, other weapons were more likely to take them by surprise.
Ahsoka episode 5 introduces Darth Maul's Mandalorian super commandos in live-action, showcasing their distinctive horned helmets and violent design. In 60 BBY, Mandalore Jaster Mereel issued his Supercommando Codex. Jaster's men served as mercenaries and warriors for hire, but their primary goal was to hunt the Death Watch. During the Mandalorian Civil War, the Supercommandos loyal to Mereel's True Mandalorian faction were eliminated to the last man at the Battle of Galidraan in the year 44 BBY. Following the war, many Supercommandos traveled throughout the galaxy as mercenaries. Decades later, during the Clone Wars, Mandalore the Resurrector and Fenn Shysa trained a battalion of Supercommandos that raided Republic holdings as Separatist mercenaries. By the end of the war, a large number of Supercommandos including those of the Mandalorian Protectors, had been killed in action. It is unknown if Shysa's later incarnation of the Mandalorian Protectors used the term Supercommando. By the time of the Second Galactic Civil War in 40 ABY, Mandalore Boba Fett had a total of one hundred Supercommandos to call on including Fett's granddaughter Mirta Gev, her fiancé Ghes Orade, Orade's adoptive father Novoc Vevut, Baltan Carid, Ram Zerimar, and Goran Beviin.It is not yet clear whether Moff Gideon's new Super-Commando-inspired troops are Mandalorians, though it seems unlikely given how few Mandalorians are left and how hard it would be for the Empire to earn their loyalty after the Purge. Instead, these new troops appear to be standard Imperial recruits who have been equipped with armor inspired by the original Super Commandos. This time, though, the use of beskar armor is not intended to simply level the playing field between the Super Commandos and Mandalorians. Gideon makes clear that he is utilizing the beskar to build an army that can reclaim the galaxy. Further into the siege, Maul sent Saxon and his commandos into a final confrontation as he dueled Tano in the Royal Palace. As the commandos began to be overrun, Saxon requested reinforcements, but Maul declined and told the commando to "die well," abandoning his forces. The surviving super commandos were captured by the victorious Republic and Mandalorian forces and the siege ended in a defeat for Maul and his commandos after the renegade Sith Lord was defeated by Tano and captured. As leader of the Empire's Super Commandos, Saxon wore their Super Commando armor with the color red. [18] Behind the scenes [ ] During the Imperial Era, in the Nightsister lair, Maul amassed an entire collection of memorabilia from his time during the Clone Wars, which included several Mandalorian super commando helmets. [15] Equipment [ ] Gar Saxon first appeared in the 2014 Dark Horse Comics Star Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir, which was based on four uncompleted Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes. Saxon later appeared in Star Wars Rebels, where he was voiced by Ray Stevenson, who later reprised his role in the seventh season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.The Mandalorian Super Commandos cost 4PC with 0 force points, 8 stamina, and 2 durability which puts them in the average making them easy to list build with and fine from a health standpoint. Saxon traveled with a complement of super commandos to the Wren Stronghold on the planet Krownest, where members of Clan Wren had encircled Sabine and the two Jedi, one being Ezra Bridger, whom he had fought with previously, and the second being Bridger's master Kanan Jarrus. Saxon called upon Ursa to give him the Darksaber, which she had previously retrieved from her daughter to bargain her life with, seeking the ancient weapon to firmly cement his rule over Mandalore as legitimate. With the Darksaber in hand, Saxon declared that Ursa and all of Clan Wren had indeed held their end of the bargain, but to do so had consorted with traitors, making them liable to treason, for which he intended to wipe out the entire clan as an example. When Tristan Wren, son of Ursa and brother of Sabine, protested and said they were all Mandalorian therefore making such a betrayal unreasonable, Saxon realized he still had use and offered him a place to stay with the Empire over his family. To the Viceroy's satisfaction, Tristan initially seemed to side with him before declaring his place was at his family's side. Unconcerned, Saxon declared that Clan Wren would end with him and ignited the Darksaber as a signal to his men. [11] The war you have waited your entire lives to fight is upon us, my brothers! Victory or death!" ―Maul [11] The super commandos utilized the same type of armor as the rest of the Mandalorians. However, their armor was primarily colored red, and at least one commando had a helmet modified to incorporate horn-like growths in honor of Maul and Opress. A large number of them had clawed handprints over their helmets, similar to the handprint of Rishi eel blood on clone trooper Echo's chestplate. Captain Rex comes in at 4PC and has 0 force points, 9 stamina, and 2 durability. This seems to be close to standard for the core set meaning he will be easy to switch between squads for list building purposes.
