One of them is about ice cream being served before dinner and the other is about a bear being found in Nikki's room while looking like Nikki. Marcy is Mackenzie's assistant fashion director for the newspaper, but is bullied by Mackenzie, and is deemed to be unfashionable by the latter. The part that I love is that Nikki was having her secret crush and she wouldn't even talk about it when Clhoey,Zoey and her, playing truth or dare 😳. Nikki Maxwell develops a sudden interest in student journalism that may or may not have to do with the fact that mean girl MacKenzie has started writing a gossip column and there just might be some info involving Brandon, that Nikki doesn’t want Mackenzie reporting to the world.But then it’s also just spit-out-your-drink hilarious sometimes, especially with the use of Nikki’s absurd drawings and her crossing out of some embarrassing things in her diary. Kirkus Reviews' review of Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life praises the humor and ability to reflect upon early adolescence experiences well, saying "Nikki’s journey of self-discovery will appeal to preadolescent readers struggling to find their places in the world. However, she also reveals that MacKenzie's plan involved getting her dad to get Nikki's dad to transfer to the other side of the state to get rid of Nikki. She figures about all the other fun they could be having, but she is determined to get back at Miss Thang. I would highly recommend reading the dork diaries series as they are lively, lovely and lots of fun to read! I think the most funniest parts in this issue is when the TV crew follows Nikki all around the school, and even all the way to her house.
