About this deal

But the good thing is, the earbuds are water resistant, but no IP rating has been specified by Razer. Audio quality is also generally pretty good, though the limited EQ options, and the muddy quality of the ‘Bass Boost’ preset is disappointing. The combination of the fit and the IPX4 sweat-resistant build meant that I had no qualms about doing a few jumping jacks and push-ups with these during my workouts. I did find that with the gaming mode turned on I had no audio-visual lag while watching videos, but that could also just be because AAC usually handles lag well enough all on its own.

If you’re having issues with your earbuds downloading the app and making sure your earbuds are up to date is the easiest way to ensure that you have a genuine problem. Razer's custom-tuned 13mm drivers deliver a hell of a punch with impressive clarity and sound stage. Unless bass is of utmost importance, you’ll probably find yourself turning off bass boost not long after turning it on, like we did. Razer claims to have included a 60ms latency on mobile with the gaming mode, so if you’re a hardcore mobile gamer where this matters it’s something to consider. Most of the time, I’m on Enhanced Bass, but sometimes I’m on Amplified and Enhanced Clarity as well.

That being said, there is no indicator on the case itself to tell you how charged they are, which is an irritating oversight that should have been factored into the design - you get a USB-C cable in the box for charging, and it normally takes around 60 minutes to get one full charge. This could be because with the default EQ settings, bass is rather understated, while the mid-range and trebles are more prominent. Navigate to your device’s Bluetooth settings to turn on Bluetooth, then scan for and connect to “Razer Hammerhead TWS (2nd Gen)”.

The case itself is rather unremarkable, being a smallish black pillbox-shaped affair, with ‘Razer’ engraved in the top. One thing worth mentioning is that these are lacking any auto-pause functionality, so removing one or both earbuds from your ears won’t have any effect on your music. Game mode is also controllable this way, so you can turn it on and off and control the volume, although if we are completely honest, it can be fiddly to get this to work. If you really want wireless gaming buds then get the Hammerhead True Wireless Pro which will fit most people just fine.
