About this deal

Sorry to hear that. One of the sad realities of meeting renowned or famous people is that they rarely live up to expectation and, in some cases, turn out to be complete arseholes. Most people off the TV fit into this category in my experience. I have gone through two of these, both broke were it screws together after three or four uses. very poor! Kardemummakaka is normally served plain with a good cup of coffee, but occasionally it is accompanied by a little whipped cream and some fresh fruit. John Duxbury Summary Then there was an Italian “holiday” which was of course filmed and which was nothing but another TV vehicle. It was something that Jamie of old would have turned down.

This flavour shaker is crap! I nearly choked my husband on the broken shards in his salad. Our 11year old bought the shaker for him at christmas and was very upset to think she had nearly killed daddy! A couple of months ago Catherine, Food TV Canada’s resident blogger , found herself with quite the dilemma: her workstation was overrun with Jamie Oliver Flavour Shakers in need of homes. Whomever received one had to try it out and blog about it. Always one for toys – especially kitchen toys – I dropped her a note and the gadget appeared last month. It’s taken a while for me to complete toy testing as my sore wrist kept me from unscrewing the tool. OK it looks pretty especially in red, however it is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE There should have been a recall on this poorly designed product. Jamie shame on you.DONT BUY IT. Because if not, there is a newspaper out there that would pay for a behind-the-scenes expose. The Daily Mail or The Evening Standard. I stopped then because I realized that the Shaker probably wouldn’t mimic the fine-ish grind I prefer.

Hi Jasmine - thank you for this review, I nearly bought this last christmas for my food-novice friend but am glad I didn't :) I think you're right - pestle & mortar and a good knife are always the best :) If you prefer you can use a 900 g (2 lb) loaf tin or a 20 cm (8”) cake tin, in which case halve the quantities below and bake for about 45 minutes. I poured in about ten whole cloves and shook the canister for two minutes. It was fun, and my arms got a good work-out. (Although I bet the people in the other Good Housekeeping Research Institute

It looks like a plastic Barbapapa: bowling pin in shape with a bulbous bottom, slimish middle and bit of a head on top. Did I mention the snazzy rubber grippy swoosh? I really enjoy that the best thing to peel ginger with is a flatware spoon but I do love my mandoline and mortar and pestle! If you've got one, I recommend using a Jamie Oliver "flavour shaker" for grinding cardamom as the seeds have an annoying habit of jumping out of a mortar. (It's about the only time I bother using a flavour shaker!) Clearly those who designed this and made all the critical decisions on what plastic to use had no clue just how much punishment that ceramic ball could dish out!
