Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. The Wrath is at the top of my list for favorite characters. They bring a bit of lightness as well as delicacy in helping Auren and Slade through this book where they start to heal. Additionally, Digby is taking his role as Aurens guard very seriously and it really warms the heart.

This book has quite a few spicy scenes, a lot of emotion, and towards the end really hooks into you. The character development is so fantastic and you get so drawn into your favorite characters and how they change. It scares me - what I did that night. Because I don't know my own power . . . But that's been the problem all along, hasn't it?' Raven Kennedy is a tea and dark chocolate kind of girl and can often be found binge-watching The Office or The Great British Baking Show.

stars equals a great book. I might buy an ebook version when it’s on sale so that I can re-read it at least one more time. Towards the end I would recommend having some tissues nearby and there are a couple of parts in the middle that may also have you tearing up. If you are reading this as a part of a binge you will likely have more moments of tears than if you were to read this like I am as the books come out. Glow Book Review Stars equals I am buying a physical copy of this book. I will read this book at least 10 more times, it is the best ever. One person’s pain doesn’t negate another’s. Our heartaches are not competition, but the bridge to empathy. So that we can look at one another and know that on some level, we understand.”

You’re not the villain in my story.” “I am,” he says without remorse, his sharp jaw tight with tension. “But I’ll be the villain for you. Not to you.” Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged. And I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong. I did a bit of skimming at times because the story was so in depth and there were characters I just didn’t even care to read their perspective. That is my only complaint in this book.I’ve raved over this series for a while now. This is one of those series that I didn’t really care for early on but it grew on me. The character development and the world building in this series is amazing. I especially love the twists you never see coming. By bestselling author Raven Kennedy, comes the first book in a stunning new fantasy series, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout.

The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, and wiped out Seventh Kingdom in the process. He has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes—his eyes are the most compelling of all. Oh, Goldfinch, I’d follow you to the end of the world and tip right off the edge, all because of a crook of your finger.” Her smile breaks through like the sunlight above us. “The song of home,” she says. “The sun is singing the song of home.” I’ll be the villain for you. He is the epitome of death and revenge. The personification of rage. He destroys everything and everyone in his vicinity without glance or thought, and through the chaos, through the massacre, I revel in it.”star equals a bad book. I barely finished this book and I will never recommend anyone waste valuable book reading time on this book. That’s the thing with trauma to the body—it shows up instantly. In breaks and bruises, in burns and in blood. But the trauma on the inside, that’s harder to see. It creeps around your mind, poisons you with disquiet. It can hit you out of nowhere, debilitating and ruinous. There are no marks visible for those. None, save the shadows in your eyes.” Meanwhile, the royalty of Orea are calling for a Conflux in which Auren must answer for the death of King Midas. In the process they are spreading vicious rumors about Auren swaying the public opinion in their favor. With the right person, there is power when you kneel. There is adoration with submission. There is balance with control.” Listen,” she whispers. So I do. I thread my fingers through her own, and I listen. But my song of home doesn’t come from the sun. Mine comes from her.”

He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom. We are finally leaving the fifth kingdom and going into the fourth so we get a whole new aspect of world building in this book. The world is beautiful and Raven does a fantastic job of describing each of the different settings. She really brings this world to life in ways that make you feel like you are there. Star Rating And she smiles, through the tears dried on her cheeks, through the glassiness of her eyes. The sight is so damn beautiful that it’s hard to breathe. Because these bars I’m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage. But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I’d never left. I was nothing but a road to Midas. A means to get to where he wanted to go, and I paved that path in gold."I may be out of my cage, but I’m not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I’m the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them? I pause, ears straining, but all I hear are faint sounds from the city below and the constant draw of the waterfall at the base of the mountain. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s with her family, probably messing up a recipe or going on a hike that she thinks she can do, but in reality she can't because she remembers that all she does is sit at a computer all day and write her heart out. This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner Series. It’s an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive world of magic inspired by the tale of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea. The Booktok hit: The Plated Prisoner Series continues in book 4. This dark adult fantasy romance is inspired by the myth of King Midas and the gold-touched woman who realizes her true worth.
