About this deal

Typically applied before pouring concrete into the mold or formwork by spraying or brushing the application on to create a thin film layer between the pour and surface. Commercial products of this type are created with a fatty acid and a soapy surfactant that react chemically with the concrete to create a clean, unstained surface with a smooth edge. Sacrificial coatings must be applied before every cycle of a molding operation and are therefore considered more labor intensive. Most molders will prefer semi-permanent coatings to sacrificial coatings, especially when molding rubber and plastic parts. These coatings contain fewer solid ingredients, and thus do not last as long as semi-permanent coatings. Chemically active form release agents (certain types of fatty acids) react with calcium ions in the cement paste to produce a soap that prevents concrete from bonding to the formwork. Based on the reactivity, they are divided into buffered (partially) reactive and fully reactive. Buffered agents produce an improved soap film that helps remove entrapped air and may promote better flow of a thin skin of cement paste at the surface of the form. Fully reactive agents can provide a good basic soap film that, depending on the brand, works well in most cases. Because chemically active form release agents produce fewer bugholes, stains, and surface irregularities than barrier type of form release agents, they are commonly used for architectural concrete. To penetrate rust, WD-40 includes powerful acids. While it doesn’t harm the skin more than drying it out, there are chemical blends in the formula that could harm your concrete mold.

A special wax and/or PVA is the mold release agent (Polyvinyl alcohol). Polyvinyl alcohol, however, is said to have harmful effects on the surface finish of the final mold. The use of barrier paints provides a hard-wearing surface and can prolong the life of wood or plywood forms.excellent results for smooth, challenging concrete surfaces. formation of pores is greatly reduced. Due to the hydrophilic properties, the surface tension is reduced and the release agent is very easily absorbed into the formlining thus achieving an excellent level of wetting. A water-based wood form release agent won’t stain concrete or release volatile organic pollutants into the air as they include vegetable oils.

Mold release agent also can be used in die casting or metal forging process of metal, such as aluminum, aluminum alloy, zinc, zinc alloy, magnesium, etc. Apply thinly, by spray, brush or swab prior to each concrete pour. Application should be a minimum of 1 hour before pouring, for the excess water to evaporate off and the release film to be properly established. With first application to new formwork a second light coat may be required. On vertical forms any excess material accumulating at the bottom of the form should be removed. On untreated timber surfaces additional coats may be required for first use. When using PERI Bio Clean in drinking water containers, the DVGW Worksheet W347 is to be taken into consideration. At Ecoratio we attach great importance to the well-being of people and the environment. We believe it is important that the user of our products is not at risk. Mainly vegetable oils and label-free raw materials are used for the production of our release agents. The products of Ecoratio are non-flammable and odor-neutral.

Release agents for attractive concrete surfaces

Release agents are used to separate mold and component. Liquid release wax and PVA release agent are used for closed-pored surfaces such as GRP forms. The release paste is used for porous structures such as wood and plaster. The release spray is used in pronounced forms and silicone molds. Release Agent for Concrete for all-plastic and with plastic coated formlining as well as formwork panels coated with phenolic resin. The release agent is a water based product and should be protected from frost. Containers must be kept sealed after use. The product may require mild agitation before use if stored for more than 6 months. Besides this, because of the thin viscosity, it will not attach to the sides of molds and would need heavy saturation, thus wouldn’t be a cost-effective solution.
