Water-resistant pens and inks may smear or discolor when exposed to water but will remain legible under most circumstances. Water resistance can vary depending on the paper used and how long the ink has had to dry. That is why the carbon ink is suitable for important documents such as official documents which need to be stored for a long time. Some people use the carbon ink to draw a rough design for a picture painted in watercolors or colored inks because carbon ink is run-proof. It causes serious problem because it is not easy to clean the pen clogged with the ink and dried up. Platinum's famous permanent waterproof ink. However, this ink does have the potential to damage pens if not used according to instructions. This ink may still smear or bleed on certain papers when exposed to a lot of water. For best results, use it with an absorbent paper and allow it to dry for 24 hours before exposing the ink to water.
