Ten people will then be taken through to the next stage of the vetting process although the criteria for selection is mysteriously vague. We are extremely proud of Cameron’s bravery and that his personal story will hopefully help raise some much-needed awareness around this topic." Cameron’s tragic story has been explored in the latest iteration of the BBC’s hugely-successful documentary series, The Detectives– which follows Greater Manchester Police‘s (GMP) team of detectives as they try to unravel complex organised crime cases across Greater Manchester, giving “unparalleled” and “intimate” access along the way. The tribute reads: “This has been the most terrible time for our family, but we are just one, of many, that are being supported by GMP, who are constantly being destroyed by these cruel, merciless drug gangs. Everyone can see first-hand how these members proactively target children into drug misuse and debt to become modern-day slaves. The family went on to thank the series’ producers, who they said “carried [them] throughout this tragic and frightening journey”, and also thank the public for all the “kind words and praise for our special son and grandson”. More importantly, though, the charities also focus on helping individuals break the cycle, regain their dignity and rebuild their lives via positive action, as well as providing crisis and emergency shelter and food during the current cost of living crisis. As for local hospitality, Michelin-Starred Ancoats restaurant mana’s Chef Patron, Simon Martin, said: “The team at mana are keen to work withStreetSmartagain this winter. We’re proud of our quiet corner of Manchester, but it does not shelter us from the reality of homelessness. DOG AND PARTRIDGE, Charnock Richard - 30 Chorley Ln DOG AND PARTRIDGE, Charnock Richard - 30 Chorley Ln

I was drawn to come here by an online image of a star Botanist dessert, a chocolate mousse topped with a chocolate crumb. That crumb could, if you squinted at it, be mistaken for soil. Which presumably was why it was served in a garden trowel. I looked up the Botanist. There are two dozen of them across the country, with more to come. For years I’ve ranted about food being served on things that aren’t plates. I’ve banged on about steaks on scratchy slates, whined about bread in flat caps, full English breakfasts in dog bowls, and mini chip pan fryers. My rants have been received with rapturous applause both virtual and actual; enough to make me assume I am on the side of the angels. And yet here’s the Botanist, doing a roaring trade in hanging kebabs and desserts served on trowels. Speaking on the 2023 scheme, StreetSmart’s Director Glenn Pougnetsaid: “We are so grateful to the local restaurants who have come together to make a difference this year and we know that the generosity of Greater Mancunians will play a huge part too. A truly wonderful initiative we can all get behind, we’re sure you’ll agree and given it is now a long-standing tradition amongst the Manchester food scene, it’s great to see more and more venues getting involved with this charitable drive. The family of Cameron Brooksbank have paid a heartbreaking tribute after the final episode of the BBC’s latest The Detectives docuseries aired last night. All of these homegrown charities and initiatives aim to provide a bed and personal support for anyone who is sleeping on the streets or at imminent risk of homelessness. By simply adding a pound to your bill, you could provide someone with a bed for the night and contribute to making a huge difference overall. Centrepoint Manchester The Booth Centre Places like these benefit directly from the annual StreetSmart scheme and have a huge impact on local lives. Sadly, it is always the poorest in society who are most deeply affected by challenges like the cost of living crisis… Our mission to eradicate homelessness from thestreetsremains firmly at the heart of what we do atStreetSmart, and we’d love to welcome even more restaurants to the scheme this Christmas. Please get in touch!” Kebab fans have until the end of the day (March 11) to tell The Botanist team ‘what hanging kebabs mean to you’ to be in for a chance of winning.
