With its fast and automatic connection for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, you can easily connect your iPhone or Android phone to access your critical apps and features. With wired CarPlay/Android Auto, you can conveniently plug your device into the Phone Link port on A6 PF, and it will launch instantly.

The price! The head unit was about 225€ compared to 350€+ for premium brands. This was the biggest reason for me to try a Chinese head unit in the first place. With a specified ATOTO HD rearview camera, you can experience a high-resolution video display with crystal-clear sound quality. The stereo also includes a dedicated Rearview Camera Input and a shortcut access button on the steering wheel for greater ease of use. I was inspired by 100percentJake’s YouTube video on the ATOTO brand and specifically the F7. Simple and affordable wireless CarPlay was appealing, and I was in the market for a more modern infotainment setup in the Touring. I also liked that the F7 is linux based making it potentially more stable.The downside of this head unit is that Android Auto takes a bit longer, at around 40 seconds, but other than that, I haven’t encountered any issues.
ATOTO F7 XE 10 inch Built in DAB/DAB+ Car Stereo- Double-DIN
The built-in Bluetooth 4.2 allows you to easily connect your smartphone and stream audio directly to your car stereo. There are three ways to connect the internet to this stereo, like 2.4 G & 5G WiFi hotspots, Bluetooth, and USB network tethering via the CarbitLink app. The USB wire attached cannot be removed from the head unit. This will make the installation quite a pain in some cases. In my car I needed to take the whole front plate off and push the wires out.Startup time is okay. The startup time is lower than in my old head unit, ~10 seconds to boot + ~10 seconds for Android Auto to be fully initialized. I installed an ATOTO F7 XE (10 inch screen) in my 2001 325xi Touring with Axxess ASWC-1 for steering wheel controls. I used an Enfig kit to mount it and make it look descent. I also used the Dinavin console frame to relocate the HVAC controls. Finally I needed the Metra wiring harness adapter. The install was pretty straight forward and the ATOTO manuals were pretty good. I made four mistakes when originally hooking it up.

What wattage should I look for in a high-quality stereo? For larger vehicles that feature multiple screens, or if you’d like to send audio or video output to other sources independently of your main system, the ATOTO F7 XE also comes with two RCA Headrest Video Outputs as well as 4-Channel RCA Audio Out for connecting an amplifier for deeper and richer sound.
