Asda's Free From range has a great, satisfying variety of pasta sauces made completely without allergens like gluten. This creamy, sweet pasta sauce is a little higher in sugar than others on the list, but still under the recommended 5g per 100g. There are some truly delicious organic pasta sauces available online these days, some from artisanal producers and some that sit alongside own-brands the online supermarket shelves, both of which give the peace-of-mind of ingredients grown without pesticides. For those of us following a plant-based diet, or at least enjoying a vegan feast from time to time, this pesto full of sweet - yet spicy pumpkin, with red pepper and cashew nuts. If you avoid adding dairy or animal products to your pasta dishes, it certainly makes a nice change from tomato!

Verdict: Generally speaking this isn't the healthiest pasta sauce, but in terms of cheese sauces Asda's Four Cheese Pasta Sauce isn't too bad. This is unfortunately reflected in the taste. While it has a creamy texture, it also has a bland flavour and definitely needs extra seasoning. Try adding a clove of garlic and grating some extra cheese on top if you're looking for a treat. Spread the rest of the white sauce evenly on top and sprinkle with 75g of grated Cheddar cheese.

This stir-in pot does contain two servings, but if you are single and fabulous (or just happen to be cooking for yourself tonight) it's a good chooce as it's cheap, cheerful, and petite!
