About this deal

Hazel couldn’t stop smiling. “You too, Daisy. Two years apart is far too long.” I must say, that is one thing that Hazel has got right. Finally, the Detective Society was reunited. However, all the other chapters were quite a lot of fun and along the way also quite educational! There is a list of female detective authors, there is a set of rules to write your own story (and instructions on why some rules are nonsense and should be ignored), Hazel and Daisy give some tips to start your own society, what equipment you need and how to write your journals, there is a list of inspiring unsolved crimes and of course a list of famous detectives. I’d like to start this by saying that Hazel’s retelling of this story is not completely accurate- I am not that emotional, no matter what she says! Suddenly, we heard a beeping noise. Daisy went white and I felt a tremble make its way through my exhausted body. The dynamite was about to go off! How dare you hurt Daisy and Hazel. I’ll get you!’ And he started to make random shots. Hazel leant to cover me, to save me but… a deadly bullet went through her heart. She keeled over and fell. Hazel Wong, president of the Detective society was dead.

A thousand questions swirl around in my mind like a whirlwind. Who is April? Why hasn’t she been mentioned before? And why is Watson just mentioning her now? All of the ladies in Breath of Life are also Belladonna girls. All except for Theodora Miller.” One by one, we trooped out of Fallingford, ready to pay our respects to the Honourable Daisy Wells. Standing next to Alexander and Bertie, behind Lord and Lady Hastings, I wondered, how could it have gone so wrong? We had failed our 9th murder case, Daisy would of be so angry. But she wasn’t here, she was about to be buried under the firm ground, not knowing nor caring about those who missed her, or wanting to be along side her, having just suffered the same fate as her. We thought about it. But, I just had an idea of what to do when Hephzibah and Arthur, the son of Theordora, came into the place where we were standing. At first, we were going to leave, but when we saw what they were talking about, we stayed and listened.Well look at you now! The detective society is finished, and you will all die…Just like my parents!” Daisy’s eyes fluttered open and she looked at me.” Watson,” she whispered,” I hereby promote you to President of the Detective Society. May you wear your badge with pride.” It's quite hard to review this book as it's a collection of a million-and-one things and it's only fun if you've read at least the first 4 books in the series (although reading the fifth too doesn't hurt) and if you really enjoyed those first 4 books. Plot-wise it's not adding anything and the short stories are amusing, but not really delivering the same thrill as the other novels. Daisy, we were always best friends. Aminas, Martittas, Alexanders come and go. But we will always be best friends.’ Me and Amina kind of have a thing. Ive never felt like this about anyone. This is much stronnger that martita. I hope you definetely wanna be friends still.” I threw my arms around her I could not believe how silly she was being.

We embraced, and while I did not cry, Hazel certainly shed a few tears. “Watson, you chump, I missed you!” I exclaimed. years have passed since I lost my best friend, and I miss her every day. I have never been the same after that trip to Egypt, but life still goes on, and I have learnt to cope with my loss. We turned and pushed our way through the crowd and went to a room where we could speak without being overheard. “A murder has happened!” I cried. “We will have to solve this case!” Next to me, Alexander tapped my hand to get my attention. “Hazel, do you know that woman?” he asked.

This book - a collection of short mystery stories set in Hazel & Daisy's world, interspersed with short notes on mystery novels, real-life mysteries, detecting, and more, from the PoVs of various characters from the books - is just full of delight and joy. I love good mystery short stories - I've always loved Agatha Christie's short stories even more than her novels - and these are just deliciously clever, full of wit and character, heart and fun. I looked at the girl. She looked at me. She was dirty and her clothes were torn, but I would know her anywhere. Daisy. We recognised each other at the same moment, and I could tell by the flash in her eyes that it wasn’t going to go well. I glanced towards the others: Bertie, Alexander, George, Lavinia, Beanie, Kitty, everyone who mattered. George, Lavinia and Kitty were white with grief, their faces screwed up, Beanie’s face was streaked with tears, but Alexander and Bertie were still crying.

She was older, taller and her face had lost its babyish look. Her clothes were as torn as ours, and her eyes were filled with the sweetness of revenge.

missed you too.” And with that she pulled me up out of the arm chair I was relaxing in and together we walked off laughing. Into the unknown. I can’t believe you betrayed our family! You killed your’s and mine mother and you will pay for it!” growled Arthur. I had seen those eyes happy, sad, furious, annoyed, but never as desperate as that. Daisy’s eyes betrayed her and told me that it was foolish to hope. She had gone into a place where I could not reach her. The detective society And I did start my detective society, although I am disappointed to say that we weren’t particularly successful. We are Beanie and me. Kitty got married to a rich lord and now doesn’t really speak to us and Lavinia, well I don’t really know where Lavinia has gone. Over the years that Daisy has not been holding my hand, I have become an elderly woman with very little happiness in her life.
