About this deal

This is a brilliant router, mainly because it has the 4 x external antenna ports on the rear that allow for the connection of an external 5G Antenna.

I know it has a battery but I assume you can leave it plugged in all the time without any issues? (thinking about overheating) Did you perform the simple speed test above? Did you get much better performance with the NR5103 router tested outdoors? If so, then buying and installing an external antenna would be a great solution for optimising your 5GEE Router performance. The main factor to consider is the distance between your proposed antenna installation point and the router. Many external 5G antennas will be pre-terminated with 5m long cables. In the case of a 4×4 MiMo 5G Antenna you will get 4 x 5m long cables. You can extend the length of the antenna cable using extension cables. Try to keep the cable length as short as possible. The longer the antenna cables, the more signal loss you will get and degrading of the 5G signal. Do you need a Directional or Omni-Directional 5G Antenna?

Other than the things detailed above, the Zyxel NR5103E and the ZTE MC801A have largely the same specs, including support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. Bridge mode is also called cellular IP passthrough on many Zyxel LTE devices. This article will teach us how to set your NR7101 / FWA710 to bridge mode. There are a number of handy LED indicators on the top of the 5G Hub showing things like the signal strength available, and the status of your internet and Wi-Fi. You can manage and configure your 5G Hub using the ‘Three 5G Broadband’ app.

In this article, we’ll review Three’s 5G Hub router. We’ll start by looking at how it works, and the best offers currently available on Three’s 5G home broadband. We’ll also look at the technical specifications and the network coverage available on the 5G Hub. This was using the internal antennas and in a good reception area. Signal was around ~72dbs (Excellent range). I can't see any way of enabling Bridge mode, so if that's absolutely needed for your use case, then perhaps look elsewhere. I currently have a Deco M4 mesh with the 5GEE wireless disabled. Yes this does then have double NAT, but I don't personally have any issues running this way for my circumstances. YMMV of course! The current Three 5G Hub is a rebranded Zyxel NR5103E, while the previous model was a ZTE MC801A, and below we’ve detailed the key differences between these two devices. Speed As for the dimensions, the Zyxel NR5103E comes in at 132.5 x 134 x 230mm, while the ZTE MC801A is 70 x 124 x 182mm. So the ZTE does have the advantage of being a significantly more compact device. Verdict Look at these two devices side by side and it’s the design that will stand out first as being different, though ultimately, they’re basically both just white boxes with a tower-like design.

Rather than using a phone line or cable like traditional fibre broadband providers, the 5G Hub uses a wireless 5G connection. This 5G connection sits in-between the 5G Hub and Three’s 5G network. All of your other devices will interface with the Hub using regular Wi-Fi (so there’s no need for your individual devices to support 5G connectivity). It will also just give you peace of mind, as no one wants to be worrying that their router won’t have the capacity to get something online. PortsThe Zyxel NR5103 5G Router with SIM Slot is the router used by EE in 2022 as their standard offering to customers that want a 5GEE Router. For example G502QEAAAR01A04-R11A03, this means that you should have version 01A04 installed and you will upgrade to version R11A03. It is important to be consistent when installing updates. There’s a new Three 5G Hub out, but like the last model it’s just called the Three 5G Hub, which can lead to some confusion. Two Gigabit ports are provided, with the first offering WAN and LAN services and the second for connecting other devices to its network. The NR5101 is an AX1800-rated Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP) with speeds of up to 1,200Mbits/sec on its 5GHZ radio and 573Mbits/sec on the 2.4GHz one. The Wi-Fi 6 high-speed 160MHz channels aren't supported, but the NR5101 mustered a very creditable performance in our real-world tests.
