As for the Galaxy Watch 4, this is the best smartwatch for anyone who owns a Galaxy smartphone. If you own a different Android phone, it’s still a worthy choice for your next smartwatch, but there are caveats around the features mentioned above.

You’d be forgiven for being confused here. Tizen has been the focus of Samsung’s software efforts in recent years, and the software running on the Galaxy Watch 4 looks similar to it. The heart rate monitor proved accurate, with our results tallying with measurements taken using other devices. The heart rate monitor worked best within Samsung’s own apps, but you can also apply these features to third-party Wear OS tools like Strava and Nike Running Club. The Watch 4 features Samsung’s own Exynos W920 chipset and 1.5GB of RAM. Throughout our testing time we’ve found this to be enough power to run a variety of apps smoothly without any slowdown. This is one of the fastest smartwatches we’ve ever used. Memory size: User memory is less than the total memory due to storage of the operating system and software used to operate the phones features. Actual user memory will vary depending on the mobile phone operator and may change after software upgrades are performed. If you need the very best, the Classic version of the Watch 4 could be for you. Its key upgrade its its design, with a hardy material and rotating bezel which helps you navigate the watch.

Samsung BioActive sensor: optical heart rate (PPG), electrocardiogram (ECG), bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor (BIA) On the health front, the Watch4 series has a new three-in-one BioActive Sensor, which can not only read your heart rate and take an ECG, but also assess your body composition using a process called bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA). Commonly used in smart scales, BIA involves sending a low-level electrical current through your body to measure fat and other metrics. You can't feel this happening, but the small electric current can affect pacemakers and other internal medical devices, so you shouldn't use the watch to measure your body composition if you have one, or if you're pregnant. Use only Samsung-approved accessories. Using unapproved accessories will not be covered by the warranty, and may cause performance problems and malfunctions as well as damage the device.

Other than these design differences, the Watch4 and the Watch4 Classic have the same battery, connectivity, internal memory, operating system, processor, sensors, and user interface. Sleek and Speedy, But Needs Daily Charging The Fitbit Versa line of smartwatches is Fitbit's most 'mainstream' wearable line, and the Versa 3 costs less than the watch 4 despite having lots of useful features.

For those looking for a slimmer design, the Galaxy Watch 4 offers that, with two buttons on the right-hand edge and little else to detract from its sleek looks. It comes in two models, one with a 40mm watch face and another with a 44mm body. Each model is also IP68 water- and dust-resistant, which means you can take them into water up to five meters deep. A word about the supplied watch band though – it’s made of a new material that may not handle intense workouts well, as we found it left something of a rash on our wrist. Supported watches: Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active2 and later released Galaxy Watch and Active models (excluding Galaxy Fit) On the Watch4, you can run your finger along the side of the screen to scroll with the digital bezel. (Photo: Angela Moscaritolo)For optimal reading accuracy, your Galaxy Watch4 needs to be snugly fastened to your wrist. When you are not conducting readings, you may loosen the band to provide breathing room. On balance, your watch’s band should not be fastened too tight or loose: make sure that it feels comfortable around your wrist. Intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only. Not intended for use in detection, diagnosis, treatment of any medical condition or disease. The measurements are for your personal reference only. Please consult a medical professional for advice. Galaxy Watch4 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under the ISO standard 22810:2010. It is not suitable for diving or high-pressure water activities. If the device or your hands are wet, they must be dried thoroughly prior to handling. One important thing to note is the limited compatibility of some fitness features. The ECG and blood pressure monitoring tools are only available when you connect the Galaxy Watch 4 to a Samsung smartphone.
