I forgot about the lab testing element of the plot, and even though it's done well and makes sense and is interesting and all that, it's still kind of depressing and takes up too much of the narrative's time.

There are a couple of plot holes that as an adult, I think should have been fixed, but that does not detract from the overall story. The successful house move allows the mouse family to remain so that Timothy has time to recover before moving to their summer home. In the end I liked the story so much that I wouldn't mind reading a sequel, to find out how the story continues for our heroes.O"Brien was an american author, as the story had to me a completely english feel - either way its extremely well-written in both structure and language.
