About this deal

There are no fans, so it’s virtually silent except for the exceptionally quiet whirring of the laptop-style hard drive. Unless you’re right next to the box, this is inaudible, so it’s ideal for bedrooms as well as the living room or kitchen. Note that the Ultra HD version does have a fan, which can be a little irritating in a quiet room. At the moment that's all the app will do. There's potential to make it far more exciting by offering controls over the network, for example, so you wouldn't need to grab the remote, or to offer wider second-screen choices. Sadly, at the moment it's just about scheduling recordings. look carefully at the top of the can. It should be slightly concave, if it looks convex then chances are the capacitor is on it's way out even though it may otherwise look OK.

DTR-T2100 RM Series Replacement Remote Control for Bt YOUVIEW-DTR-T2100

I have a slightly newer Sony Brava TV and can't recall a single issue with handshaking (unlike my HDR-2000T). HDMI handshaking for me is as sold as with my HDR-FOX T2s (1.03.12 and 1.02.20). West Mids = Sutton Coldfield COM7 = freq.ch 33 @ -4dB... but received via an aerial pointing the wrong way. SC is often very good if not better than Waltham in parts of the E.Mids for the main channels at least... so that may explain why it works when set like that even though the aerial is pointing the wrong way? Thank you for your replies, I read some where that the HD content only is encrypted, can anyone confirm this. The YouView user interface here is the same as you'll find on the old BT box, as well as on unbranded boxes, or that from rivals TalkTalk. The actual BT element only really impacts on the experience when you step into the sections that BT adds to the mix. These instructions to fix my BT box are an absolute godsend. The tell-tale sign of a beeping HDD was enough to convince me that this was worthwhile pursuing….and sure enough it worked. The only problem I had was trying to get the maintenance screen up once the HDD had been replaced – it took about 3-4 attempts before the box finally responded and after that it was plain sailing from then on in. Box is fully up and running now. So thanks for the instructions and saving another bit of kit from going to set top box heaven – as well as doing my bit for saving the planet. So, is there an explanation? I'm guessing the tuner in the DTR-T2100 is either more or less sensitive than the DTR-T1000 and is being affected by not differentiating between East and West Midlands frequencies. Is a variable attenuator or a booster likely to make any difference? Is the aerial somehow at fault in both houses? All youview boxes provide 5 different resets. The easiest to access is via their menus, but that will also delete all your recordings and you would also need to setup everything again. Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears. East Mids = Waltham (Talking Pictures on COM7 = freq.ch 31@ -7dB cf the PSB muxes but outwith a C/D aerial - as Waltham used to use - so may be further attenuated).

Question Freeview - Youview - DTR-T2100 - Not getting some Question Freeview - Youview - DTR-T2100 - Not getting some

The TalkTalk boxes are at least slightly slower in their operation. I have the fastest of the talk talks (DN372T v1) and find it only just tolerable but that is a very subjective view. For full details see https://support.youview.com/youview-box/box-and-remote/using-maintenance-mode/ It could be the HDD, but it could be the PSU as well - often high ESR capacitors in the PSU produce such symptoms, but also often cause other damage - including killing the HDD.You may already have received this or your box is due soon to obtain it. Youview roll the updates out in batches, not everyone gets them at same time. But if you are referring to the new features with the BT Pro box, this is not available on your box (as far as I know currently/not sure about future updates being rolled out). There's still plenty of confusion around what you might have to pay for, though, as well as the integration of BT TV services with wider YouView staples. The important thing is to ensure you know what you're getting from the outset and make sure you don't end up paying for TV services you don't need. If you do not have a BT TV subscription but your box is still connected to the internet then updates will still go ahead as you are used to. BT do still have some control over when updates take place on your 91-00438 but there is no differentiation between one using a BT TV subscription, one using BT as their ISP but no subscription, and one using a different ISP. Personally think dead HDD is getting more likely as apart from the beeping I mentioned it is 100% silent, no HDD noise at all and usually there is a little HDD noise on these boxes. For recording radio programes all youview boxes are unreliable. This is due to the youview boxes having no manual option for setting up timers. Even when I was trying to use my DTR-T2100 as my prime device I had to keep my HDR-FOX T2 fully running in parallel for radio programmes.

BT YouView+ Humax DTR-T2100 review - Pocket-lint

As there are two Freeview HD tuners inside the box, you can record two separate channels at the same time. Depending on which these are, you may or may not be able to watch a third, different channel while recording two others. You can always watch recorded shows during recording, though. And it follows that as the OS (in effect) of the device is on the mainboard it should be able to format a blank new hard drive without any problems. The problem is that your box doesn't appear to want to boot up properly even without the drive installed. So swapping the drive may not get you any further forward. I would have thought that the box would boot up without the drive but display a message that it can't find the drive rather that sit there continually attempting to detect it. It would be a pretty poor bit of software coding that didn't have a limit on how many attempts it makes to detect a drive before giving up and continue to the main screen. In terms of what really matters to most people - picture and sound quality are absolutely fine. It's silent in use. It gets fairly hot but that seems to apply to all YV boxes. The box is pretty basic - no led display to tell you what channel you are watching, for example, but I've never really seen a need for that anyway. Am using the latest firmware which sorred out a lot of well documented issues (problems with surround sound being the one that bugged me the most). The new firmware that is starting to appear looks good but no idea or info on how well that works with any particular box as yet. I tried your first suggestion of trying the PVR with no HDD and it behaves EXACTLY the same as it did with the HDD in! The same looping logos forever, the recovery menu comes up but as before none of the option will do anything. So I think from this we can conclude the HDD is almost certainly dead as the box works just as well (not at all) with it as without.Select the Recovery option required using the Up and Down arrow buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box and use the Right arrow button to confirm the option. First impressions. I can believe why Humax didn't want to put their name on the outside. It's rubbish. It's slow, the remote needs a hard press to make it work and the TV tuner on the TV is much superior. Initially I tried it without it being connected to the internet and it seemed fine. As soon as I got it connected using a sky WiFi adapter it updated the software and now I have a much darker screen and is clearer and brighter using the TV tuner. Tested on two TVs and it's the same. I bought my TalkTalk Youview in Spring of 2015 and very soon realised that my experience was very different to other reports before then. It was very stable and reliable.

Question - BT DTR-T2100 HDMI / HDCP Problems? | AVForums Question - BT DTR-T2100 HDMI / HDCP Problems? | AVForums

It turns out that Humax have ported their freeview boxes' multiple transmitter issue to their Youview boxes. It doesn't impact everyone within range of more than 1 transmiatter but it does impact some. Apologies to resurrect this thread. I have just installed a new one of these which I bought in 2015. I bought it and then got a sky deal so it just stayed in its box. Multi room subscription finishes today so thought it best to install it in the bedroom for the wife. I stand to be corrected but my understanding is that the hard drive is just a storage device for recordings. The firmware that runs the box is stored in memory on the mainboard. So in theory the box should be able to boot with or without the drive present. It's not the same as a PC where the OS is stored on the drive so obviously can't boot without the drive present and correct. The new youview software that TalkTalk are rolling out over the next couple of months should improve at least some aspects of the slowness. There are 4 other resets and with the appropriate selection you can reload the software and keep your recordings. The new box is now complete with BT branding front and centre, which BT is probably rather pleased about and you most probably don't give a hoot about. The design matches that of the latest generation Home Hub 5. If I take their box to my house still set to the East Midlands it fails to get the channels. If I set the box with a West Midlands B1 postcode the box gets Talking Pictures, but of course the regional programming is incorrect. The (non-retail) DTR-T2100 is practically identical to the (retail) DTR-T2110 but comes in a plan brown box and the label on the underside identyfing as the DTR-T2100 'model'. There is no other difference. If I recall correctly even the on-screen system information menu does not differentiate the two. Hmm, my thinking was that if it behaves exactly the same with the HDD out as in, then the HDD is not making itself known, because it has some fault, and so the box is forever looping i.e. trying but failing to make any communication with the HDD.
