At BrewDog Distilling Company, we make LoneWolf gin from scratch using our own Abstrakt Vodka as the base spirit. Not many gin makers can make this claim, but to us it’s the only way to do it, because we believe that quality is the cornerstone of our DNA.
The UK has become accustomed to accepting the deceitful behaviour of those who hide their falsehoods by constantly repeating a mantra of Purity, Filtration, Premium. But this is an underhand deal – mere buzzwords snatched from the ether to distract from the reality of the industry as it exists today. LoneWolf Vodka is on to them. Charlatans, your time is over. Once everything is online and all systems are go, we will become the only craft distillery in Scotland to make our base spirit from grain, under one roof. This is hugely important to us – and it starts with our BrewDog vodka. We've removed a section of our brewhouse roof and installed a colossal 19m high 60-plate rectification column, to get the purest, cleanest spirit possible. We want to stretch the boundaries of what a distillery can do – and what a distillery should do. Starting with our own all-grain distilled vodka, through our bespoke gins and whiskies and a range of other spirits besides – we can’t wait to make this natural progression for BrewDog and make as big an impact on the spirits industry as we did on the beer industry.

LoneWolf spirits are a beacon shining into the reaches of the spirits industry, taking on the incumbents at every turn. Unrelenting craft in a world of compromise. These brand new prototypes are an exclusive for our card-carrying Equity Punks (stand by your inboxes, shareholders!). Lone Wolf will be unleashed fully in early 2017. Installation of our distillery is happening right now, and following tests of everything from the operational side to the water we will be using, we hope to be ready to produce our first batches of BrewDog spirit at the start of April. Equity Punks, if you’re attending the AGM on the 9th you may well get to try some highly exclusive trial batches! (We’ll say no more for now). Integrity is also a lost art when it comes to the idealistic soulmate to Vodka. The rise of so-called craft Gin has been propelled by faux-artisans adding a twist of this, a handful of that to bulk spirit and bottling it up. Chance your arm and see what flies. Not anymore. My tasting notes say "Ozone, spearmint; white marshmallows; warm, spicy, citrus; clean, full, crisp." and it got 5* (out of 5). So basically, I love this gin. I agree with the post that liked Lone Wolf's premix G&T; there's a roadside stop on the A12 where we always buy a can for whoever is not driving home. You will get a bespoke ¼ barrel cask of Lone Wolf whisky – deciding how long we age it for and when it should be bottled, plus you will design and distil your own unique gin and receive four cases.
Being Scotland's first Carbon Negative distillery means we remove twice as much carbon from the air as we emit.Immerse yourself in flavours of smooth Tuscan juniper, zesty lemon and grapefruit, floral lavender and a hint of pepper spice. This will then form the basis of our vodka and gins, and where others buy in neutral spirit in bulk, we will distil everything from scratch. The head of our distillation team Steven Kersley is now dialling in our gin recipe using the 50 litre pilot still, with over 30 different botanicals for trial, building up the flavour complexity until the blend and ratios are perfect. When you make the first Whisky, I hope us Equity Punks get first dibs. Good, limited edition Whisky is an investment that will be high on my list. I like the "unhurried world" where "location and sentiment" are almost as important as fine ingredients, skill and patience... V2 gin is a fabulous drop - an excellent balance of botanicals with the hint of lavender coming through at the end. I really like the spiciness that the pink peppercorns add. Nice and citrusy so makes an excellent G&T
