About this deal

I have MS and enjoy the Thinking and Smart puzzle games however, they are not as enjoyable as a good old RPG. Each time you cycle through the Robinson deck, Robinson will age, meaning a new detriment from the ageing deck is added to your deck. I have loads of digital board games on my phone; but there’s just something I like about playing on the Table-Top. Friday is a deck-building game in which you try to add good cards to the deck and get rid of the bad ones.

It is just as challenging as the original but you can whip through the games to put your losses behind you. The hazard will give a certain number of cards that you can play for free, and any additional cards will cost you a life to play. The root of this issue is that the game is a balance of three decks of largely uncontrollable unknowns instead of just one deck you have a large degree of control over. Watch our reviews, listen to Top 10 lists highlighting the best games in different topics, and learn what games might just be your next favorite game.

I also love the fact that Friday prevents you from doing a fairly standard deck building strategy of trashing most of your deck to only leave the best cards because, if your deck becomes too small, you will get aging cards very quickly.

Such is the case for Friday, a solo game that sees the player in the namesake role of Friday, teaching the idiot castaway Robinson Crusoe how to hunt, fight and survive but ultimately, to get him off your bloody island so you can have some peace. Friday will challenge you and strategy is key to ensuring you successfully survive everything the island has to throw at you! Friday’s cool, but it gave me the exact same feeling I got from playing Mage Knight or Phantom Leader alone. These decks are; the Robinson deck, the Hazard deck, and the Ageing deck (in easy mode you will remove the ‘very stupid’ card first). The player is Friday and must help Robinson to survive and prepare him for the last two battles against the pirates.Play will continue until you have either ran out of health points and die, or you progress through all three stages of hazards, beat the pirates and send Robinson home, winning the game.

Yet, when some reliable sources (other blogs I read) highly recommended Friday (and when I realized it is really cheap), I decided to give it a try. His games are full of charm, personality and humour, but they always pack a horseshoe in their bamboozling boxing gloves or a brick in their brain-teasing bag, see Power Grid for such brain melting mathematical gymnastics.A terrible loneliness, as if I wasn’t playing a game alone but with the spectre of death watching over my shoulder.
