About this deal

The new Storm Speeder looks like it’s the Primaris Replacement for the Land Speeder – it’s even got the ‘Speeder’ name, too! While it did add the third crew member, the resemblance is clear. The Storm Speeder is the descendant of the Land Speeder. Dreadnought: Redemptor Dreadnought We’re not rating these for obvious reasons – you want to use them if you want more relics or traits on your list and if you don’t then they’re irrelevant. Marines have good traits and relics in abundance so it would be surprising if you never wanted to, but it all depends on what your list is doing. Strategic Ploy Stratagems Deathwatch are a marine army, and they inherit the problems of Space Marines when it comes to putting models on objectives and expecting them to stay there. Your deployment zone objective is usually safe with Desolation Marines, but No Mans Land tends to be a wholly different problem. The usual approach is to put small infiltrating units like the aptly named Infiltrators onto the safer neutral objectives and then allowing your opponent to pressure you and take an early lead. At this point, while focussing on damage dealing while you have the most available to make use of Oath of Moment, you can remove their scoring assets while setting up your second wave to take over that control in the late game. Among the oldest and most powerful Vehicles of both Adeptus Astartes and Heretic Astartes alike, the Land Raider is a true Warhammer 40,000 icon. Yet the high points costs of these indomitable tanks have often seen their number limited on the tabletop – and their loss in battle keenly felt.

There are thirteen Chapters with Chapter Tactics listed in the Space Marines codex. These traits apply to all units except SERVITOR and BEAST units. The traits are as follows: Dark Angels This Ultramarines Storm Speeder Thunderstrike is a highly manoeuvrable anti-armour platform due to its Las-talon and its heavy Stormfury Missiles. The Phobos traits are largely cool rather than optimal, but there’s definitely fun things you can do with them, especially if you’ve gone in hard with Phobos units. Chapter Warlord Traits Necron Immortals may be bigger and more heavily armed and armoured than Necron Warriors , but they’ve often been overlooked compared to their more numerous cousins on account of their high points cost. No longer! Coming in at a mere 4 points more per model than Necron Warriors, regardless of what gun they carry, an army centred around a solid core of Immortals with super-zappy tesla carbines is now a perfectly competitive option. Wraithguard and WraithbladesHuge, diverse range. Space Marines have an answer to basically any question, and usually several. If you find yourself struggling against a particular opponent or army, you can probably find something in the book to help.

Deathwatch Veterans, 4 Frag Cannon, 4 Deathwatch Thunder Hammer, 2 Astartes Shield, Xenophase Blade, Long Vigil Melee Weapon Usually at this time of year, we’re at the NOVA Open, and many of the cool reveals previewed here may well have been shown off for the first time at that event. As with many events in this tumultuous year, it’s sadly not been possible for the organisers to run it. It’s one of our favourite events of the year, and we miss it dearly, but we hope that at this time in 2021, we’ll be there again, and previewing loads more awesome new stuff in-person to a thousand eager Warhammer fans! The Storm Speeder Thunderstrike can outmanoeuvre the foe at every turn, targeting vulnerable points in armour, fuel tanks and missile hoppers to turn opposing tanks and vehicles into raging fireballs. The Storm Speeder Hammerstrike of the Ultramarines pictured here is a potent, mobile anti-fortification artillery platform with its turret-mounted Hammerstrike Missile Launcher. By threatening any approach to your own advancing wave of objective units by way of Desolation Marine or the possibility of an Advance and Charge from the Watch Master’s squad or a reserve unit appearing to remove any unsupported threats, you can then build up your primary through the mid game to take the lead on the final scoreboard.

Add to this the volume of melee that can be available through the aforementioned Deathwatch Thunder Hammers, or Power Fists on the Proteus Kill Team, and there aren’t many targets that can’t be brought down given an even game. For even more anti-infantry firepower, the storm bolters and autolaunchers may be swapped out for fragstorm grenade launchers. One of your ironhail heavy stubbers may also be changed out for an onslaught gatling cannon. Librarian ( Epistolary • Codicier • Lexicanium • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian) • Chaplain ( Reclusiarch • Primaris Chaplain • Judiciar) • Apothecary ( Primaris Apothecary • Apothecary Biologis • Helix Adept) • Techmarine Storm Speeder Thunderstrike and Hailstrike : The two best Storm Speeders provide a very similar role, handing out +1 to wound vs Vehicles and Monsters, and +1 AP respectively to a unit hit by the Storm Speeder. At 160/130 points they’re definitely premium units, but having some fast and fairly resilient units that can turbo up your damage while doing some themselves is obviously very helpful
