About this deal

So these are technically the first generic Lightning Claws for Primaris Marines. Whatever — I got excited to see them on in this sprue and I hope that GW makes rules for their use for Primaris Marines more widespread than just Sword Brethren. The bits for them (the arms included) seem pretty universal. And with some creative modeling, you could probably reposition them, too. The Initiate is armed with a brand new, juiced up flamer weapon, the Pyreblaster, emblazoned with the Templar cross –implyingnot only that this is a Templars-only weapon, but there might be more to come… The Sword Brother kit will have plenty of CC options and the option to make a Marshal (like with the Custodes Warden kit that gives you the option of making a Captain).

One of the creepier relics in the set, the Aurillian Shroud is as macabre as they come with a skeleton blessed by Saint Agatine just visible underneath the cloth. The banner is marked by a crusade seal, similar in appearance to classic purity seals but instead sporting red paper with Templar vows written across them. Several of these crusade seals are also included in the set, adding a bit of variety to your holiest of warriors.

Painting Black Templars

He has no fewer than 60 skulls on him, so he’s probably one of the most Warhammer miniatures ever,” jokes Maxime. Marshal The Aurillian Shroud, Skull of the Cacodominus, Sword of Judgement, Witchseeker Bolts, Ancient Breviary, and The Crusader's Helm. This final mystery– of when the full range will actually hit shelves – willlikely persist for some while yet, but we’ll keep this guide updated as soon as we glean any further truths through the fog of war. This Big Guy will really tip the scales in your games, so keep an eye out for him over on the Forge World webstore.

I really hope players and GW take more notes from this box. It’s just really promising to see the actual bits for these named Relics. BT player can just buy the upgrade kit and model a Marine with the Relic! And they are unique enough to actually stand out. GW could do this for literally every army in the game — they have created special relics for them in the rules, now they have the ability to model new bits for each one as well. We’ve no word on pricing or a release date, although– sinceGW commented in its revealarticle that the Templars’ army set would be “a perfect force for Helbrecht to lead”– we can be fairly sure he won’t be too far behind the army set. Now, if only we could see his rules… First time dipping my toes into 40k. I've been a Mordheim player for the past few years, and never really played anything else. So this will be my first larger scale game! Any recommendations for 3d printed bits? Are 3d prints bits(not entire model replacements, just things like shoulder pads, weapons, add-on fluff and the like) allowed in FLGS games? We’re not sure how much play this will see (unless against a couple of armies), just for the fact it’s only once per game, then a Psyker can stop your actions. While running your Outriders into combat on the first turn is sweet, it doesn’t do much after that. Hefting a customised combi-flamer and Power Axe, and modelled directly from theskull-shoulderedTemplar character in the middle ground of John Blanche’s famous artwork described above, this Castellan miniature is perhaps the Templariest Templar model GW has created.

So far, those revealed include the Holy Orb (a one-time mortal wound-dealing perfume hand grenade which, like its predecessor in the 4th Edition codex, is a direct reference to the 1975 movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail) and the Icon of Heinmann, which cancels out most weapons’ AP to make one of your Sergeants or Sword Brethren a chunk more survivable. The Sword Brethren are the elites at the top of the Chapter, and they have earned the right to fight however they like, Maxime explains. An ancient Mk II helmet from the days of the Great Crusade, the Crusader’s Helm is passed down to powerful orators to boost their voices by the power of Saint Sebatus’ jawbone contained within. It features a truly distinctive mono-visor and bears a striking resemblance to the helmet worn by High Marshal Helbrecht – perhaps made by the very same artisans all those millennia ago. We’ll be taking a look at their new rules throughout the week, which cover all the ways this unconventional successor Chapter wages wars. Overall we have to say this update is pretty awesome and just full of really cool minis. Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of new BT armies out there soon! Assorted decorations, including purity seals, honour scrolls, candles, martyrs’ bones, lanterns, icons, and what looks like a Holy Hand Grenade… Loadout-wise, it looks like the new Crusader Squad can mix up wargear more freely than other Primaris units. Photos show Initiates with Pyreblasters; Bolt Rifles, Auto Bolt Rifles, and Heavy Bolt Pistol / Astartes Chainsword combos, while the Neophytes are seen to carry either Bolt Carbines or Bolt Pistol / Chainsword combos.

Regardless, if it has value to you, then get it. If it doesn’t, then don’t! Don’t let the FOMO get the best of you if you really aren’t sure about the minis. I'm okay to do conversions, since that's a big thing in Mordheim, and I have a Saturn 2 8K 3d printer as well. I wasn't sure if I should find some 3d printable bits to add on as conversions, or if the Upgrade Kit is my better bet. Even if I were to print out the bits, I'm not sure which models I could put what bits on! It's a whole new world for me. It’s another huge week for Warhammer+ next week. There’s the seventh episode of Angels of Death, in which our heroes find themselves in yet more trouble, as well as a long, hard look at Roboute Gulliman in Loremasters, and the first-ever Battle Report from Warhammer Underworlds, featuring guest host Phil Kelly. The Warhammer Vault meanwhile adds Realmgate Wars V: All Gates and July 2021’s White Dwarf. The old-school influences don’t stop there. The Marshal’s head and the axe are direct nods to the 1998 Captain who was originally introduced in the limited edition of the starter set that was released for the third edition of the game. Also among these Relics is the Icon of Heinmann. This symbol carried into battle by the late Castellan Heinmann represents his stubbornness in the face of utter defeat. On the tabletop, it reduces incoming Armour Penetration, allowing Characters to shrug off rending blows. But then, the following day, it changed its mind, and gave the intriguing answer that the model can represent either a Primaris or a Firstborn marine, depending on your preference: Metallics are all just my standard recipes. For silver it’s Leadbelcher with Nuln Oil all over then a Stormhost Silver highlight, and for gold a Retributor Armour base, Reikland Fleshshade wash in the recesses, and Stormhost Silver highlight. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll toss a Liberator Gold highlight in before the silver, but you won’t generally notice the difference.
