About this deal

Our farm-themed tray was designed for our preschooler (3-year-old) to play with different textures and enjoy a bit of messy play! I placed Harry’s digger vehicles all over the tuff tray in different positions, ready for him to play. What I am trying to say is that this may just seem like a fun thing to play with but it is also a great learning aid! The tuff tray is brilliant for keeping messy activities (mostly) contained and is easy to clean afterwards.

Tuff trays like this are great for fine motor skills, Harry loved moving materials from one place to the other. We played with it for hours and because the ingredients are dry I have been able to keep them, those that were not eaten(! This tray was designed small world play, messy play and sensory play all rolled up into one huge learning through play experience. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. You don’t need to mark out different fields though, you can just create different zones naturally if you don’t have tape or chalks. The textures, loose parts and vehicles all use different motor movements and is excellent for child development. This is a great busy tray for encouraging imaginative play; encourage your child to play with the toy dinosaurs as they stomp around or wade in the gloopy swamp. I used cornflakes as this is one of my go-to cereal foods to use, it can be crunched in the hand, rolled over with a rolling pin, scooped with vehicles or spoons and he loves eating it! Naturally we then ended up tipping the contents of the bowl into the tuff tray and using it as a splash pad.

The transport tray was created using a variety of materials from cereal, rice, water beads, and rocks. Esther also enjoyed loading up her dumper truck with different food stuffs and driving them round the farm to the different animals. The tuff tray has been useful for nature learning activities as it helps keep the items we’re looking closely at contained, while providing a flat surface for filling in worksheets. With tea on Friday night we read some of our favourite farm stories to help us with ideas as to what we might find on a farm.I added an activity to the tray to keep my youngest busy as I thought this may be a bit old for her. I enjoy doing Montessori activities with my own children at home and so, as well as the traditional Montessori Activities that develop the Stereognostic Sense, I have also incorporated my own ideas for games and activities into this….

We have been really enjoying Tuff Tray activities here at Learning and Exploring Through Play and today we have Joanne joining us sharing several Small World Tuff Trays she has been busy enjoying with her children. This was a great fine motor activity for my daughter who enjoyed putting the trees on and off the cars and learning how to use the elastic band. Some of the suggested ideas, such as creating a small world farm, can be accessed by children over a longer period of time.
