About this deal

I wanted this Summer to be special, because last year Henry was just a blob that we carried around. Now he is up for all the fun and wanted to be in all all the action we could find, and I knew I had to be awake and ready to go. Enter: FRENCH VANILLA ICED COFFEE WITH HOMEMADE VANILLA SYRUP! This is one of my favorite recipes to make in a big pitcher at the beginning of the week, and it get’s me through to the enjoying the weekend. This syrup, sometimes called “nectar,” is also the perfect choice for use in coffee and is praised for its gentle sweetness and the slight hint of rich caramel flavor. The sweetness isn’t overpowering, and it really helps elevate the coffee’s natural flavors. Mixed-Drink Syrups Ah, my lovely friends, while it might sound like it’s complicated to make vanilla syrup, it’s not. And while those store-bought varieties might have a few added ingredients and preservatives, making it at home only requires two ingredients. It’s simple and you know exactly what’s going into it!

In addition to its use in beverages, French Vanilla Syrup is also a great choice for adding flavor to a variety of sweet and savory dishes. Use it to add depth and richness to your sauces, glazes, and marinades, or drizzle it over pancakes, waffles, and French toast for a tasty twist on breakfast favorites. The possibilities are endless with this versatile and delicious syrup. In the world of ice cream, French vanilla is a classic and rich flavor that can often be achieved by adding a few extra ingredients to vanilla ice cream. However, if you are looking for something milder and sweeter, try out “Vanilla Flavor” instead. Yes, in fact, there is no such thing as a French vanilla bean. Vanilla beans come from orchids, and originally came from Mesoamerica, though variations on the vanilla orchid have now scattered around the world. You can’t go wrong with any of those recipes, but this is my easiest and favorite. For this I just use a chilled cup of brewed coffee, Lactaid Whole Milk, and some Homemade Vanilla Syrup.

Stir in vanilla: Remove from the heat and add 2 teaspoons vanilla. Cool to room temperature before using. P.S. vanilla bean paste is pricier than extract (again, vanilla, in general, is a more expensive ingredient) however, a jar of paste lasts for a very long time. Before I found out about Lactaid, I had the (terrible, I know) habit of buying Iced Coffee almost every morning. It fueled my morning, but it always caused terrible belly aches. Not to mention the calories. I love to be able to control the entire process at home; from deciding how much and what kind of dairy to use to making my own syrup. SO MUCH BETTER! Tips for making Homemade Vanilla SyrupVanilla extract comes from fresh vanilla beans that are grown in tropical climates such as Madagascar, Mexico and West Africa (the island of Reunion). The beans are harvested, dried and then sold to extract producers who extract the vanilla flavor using a variety of methods, including heat and water extraction. Vanilla syrup is a simple syrup with vanilla extract. There’s only three ingredients: sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Vanilla and French vanilla are both variations of the same type of ice cream. There is not much difference between them, so it really comes down to preference on which one you like the best. Many of these syrups used to be laden with artificial sweeteners, flavorings, and colors, but today you’ll find that many of the best coffee syrups are now all-natural and even sugar-free. Coffee Syrup Brands (Best of The Bunch!) Serving size will vary depending on how much syrup you use per drink, etc. This recipe yields approximately 3/4 cup of syrup. Doubling it to 1 cup of sugar will result in about 1 1/2 cups of simple syrup.

Of course, vanilla syrup isn’t just for coffee! There are loads of great ways to use this tasty syrup for breakfast or desserts. Here are a few ways to get creative with homemade vanilla syrup:This vanilla bean syrup isn’t just for coffee (hot or iced in cold brew), but that’s where the story begins. I took one sip of my homemade vanilla latte, made with this syrup, and was floored. It was perfection. It was sweet – but not overly so – with a silky texture and vanilla – real vanilla! – infused throughout. Add the vanilla bean paste once the simple syrup is off of the heat to ensure it retains the most flavor! After I had my morning Iced Coffees (with Lactaid of course) over the weekend we were able to play all day from touring houses for fun (is that normal?), hitting up multiple playgrounds, taking Henry to the driving range (and by that I mean letting Pat go to the driving range), seeing both sets of grandparents, and ending the weekend with a dinner date out with Pat for my bday. The nutrients from the Lactaid keep me fueled for whatever the day brings. French Vanilla is a universally popular flavor, making it a safe and reliable choice for any food or beverage business.
