The Alloy of Law is an add-on to the Mistborn trilogy, and I think it might be difficult to fully understand/appreciate if you've not first read the Mistborn series (the Mistborn characters are considered "legend" in this book - although "Iron Eyes" does crop up) Wax and Wayne, accompanied by Marasi, go to the bandits' hideout, and find it deserted, with minimal remaining evidence. They visit an old acquaintance – a gunsmith named Ranette - and form a plan to capture the bandits during their next robbery. Living Legend: Marasi views Wax this way, even referring to him explicitly as such in her internal monologue. By the end of the book, it's clear his reputation from the Roughs has started to spread in the City as well. It started when he and Wayne killed 31 Vanishers and captured 5 more in the middle of a crowded wedding reception with the wedding guests receiving some minor injuries ''and no fatalities''. Of course, by the end of the book they've completely vanquished the Vanishers and recovered Wax's fiancée, and the city has granted them privileged lawman status.

His last family members died in an accident and he’s the last heir left, forcing him to lay down his guns and head for his old home to take over his House’s rule. Haunted by his past, he gets caught up in a major robbery involving some old acquaintances... When the struggle between his past, his duty and his nature is settled he once again puts all his skills and experiences as a Lawman on the line to solve the mysterious case of the Vanishers. I fervently hope that Sanderson follows this novel up to get on with the unfinished business and tie up the loose ends that the end of the book leaves us at.
