The gaps between the cab and nose sections is too big. I understand it's needed to run curves, but in the side view it's ugly. Also, there's no need to update the Metroliner. It's the perfect LEGO train set. It has everything. It offers much more play value than 60197 (doors, windows, lights, more minifigs, beds, an engine and a much longer platform) and doesn't look too much like a shoe box on wheels even with it's not too over the top front pieces. It has to negotiate not only curves but also at least slightest slopes. I think this is also main reason for blind wheels being elevated a bit. Without it it would derail on 1plate elevation changes like orange City tram does... Is there any chance we could ever see an electric italian locomotive? Is the anything wrong in turning a fail original part into a custom working part? Guess not. However, in my opinion, this model takes detail and realism to a whole new level, elevating it from a being just toy train to a model worthy of display anywhere in the house, which is what LEGO intended.
