About this deal

I turned to sourdough. Sourdough is my solace. The cogs started turning and I thought, pizzas could be my true calling. He added: “It took a while it was a lot of trial and error. Eventually that spark just ignited and I stumbled upon greatness. I want to give these pizzas the best chance they can to succeed.” Under the circumstances, it’s hard not to wonder aloud if all this – a new album, the expectations around it, interviews, a world tour – is really the best thing for him. The thing is, he says, he would probably be like this even if he weren’t a pop star. “It’s been a big contributing factor with my anxiety, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to the same insecurities, fear of not living up to something, impostor syndrome, which my friends have who work in finance or whatever. So it is to do with success, but you can boil it down to these really human feelings and thoughts.” Capaldi performs at the Irving Plaza in New York in June 2019. Singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi has launched his own range of “big” and “sexy” pizzas in supermarket chains Iceland and Tesco. Lewis had several involuntary movements of his arms and head as his voice faltered a little, but the fans were right behind him and showed him phenomenal support as he lived out his 'childhood dream' to play Glasto. After performing Bruises, Lewis Capaldi admitted he was starting to lose his voice – but that he was going to power through to end of his slot. Buried at the end of the record is its finest moment, one that does away with the gooey, romance platitudes and instead indulges in something inwards-looking and potent. On ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, he ironically toasts his so-called “beautiful life”, one that “seems to leave me so unsatisfied” and has left him wanting: “Thought I’d be happier somehow”. Moments like this – candid, coarse – are where Capaldi shows growth and where he should go next. You just wish he’d realised this sooner. DetailsAnd, to be fair, I go through phases: I’ll do two months, no booze, eating well, going to the gym and I’ll lose a bit of weight, feel grand and then think: ‘This is boring – I need to blow off some steam.’ So I go out at the weekend, and then the week after, think, ‘I don’t feel like I really got it out of my system’ and have four weeks where I go out every weekend. Which is normal, but for my body, it doesn’t work. What I need to do is find some balance in my life.” I met him in Chicago at the end of 2019, and he talked about what had happened with the forthcoming shows in a tone of disbelief. “I’ve gone from doing two nights at Barrowlands in Glasgow to 4,000 people,” he said, “to two nights at a 16,000-capacity arena.” MelanieHewitt61 added: "A #Glastonbury moment we’ll never forget. Beautiful, brave, beloved. #LewisCapaldi" while @stylescomer tweeted: "massive respect to lewis capaldi, so brave to go out there - absolute hero". @yipeekiyay88 said: "The nation stands and claps, what a brave performance look after him what a star".

Restaurant responds after couple's claim they were surrounded by waiters who 'wanted to fight them' When Capaldi’s career started to take off, Sheeran took him aside and offered a succession of dire warnings about fame. “He said: ‘Has your family started getting weird yet? Have there been any sort of fringe members of your family started to get weird with you?’ I said no. And he goes: ‘What about your friends?’ and I said no, and he goes: ‘That’ll happen.’ It was like the most doomsday conversation I’ve ever had in my life. Cheers, Ed – that’s really pepped me up. He said: ‘Fame doesn’t change you; it changes everyone around you.’ The first time, it’s a hair-raising effect—“Forget Me” is as visceral as a pleading romantic showdown outside EastEnders’ Queen Vic pub—and occasionally Capaldi steals a little nuance in there. “Wish You the Best” starts with understated immediacy as he follows a train of thought about an ex, longing to know everything about her new life, but hold the new boyfriend. Then the chorus hits: “I wanna say I miss the green in your eyes/And when I said I wish we could be friends, guess I lied,” he howls, and the sour note he lands as he stretches out that last word feels grimly true as he contemplates the gap between who he wants to be and who he feels he is.

Side guide

I have experienced that for sure, but it’s obviously not been as intense as it was for him. I’m very suspicious of people anyway. It comes from my father.” He laughs. “My dad hates everyone until they prove themselves: ‘Ah, I like him.’ If I’m going on a date with a wee girl, he’s like: ‘What does she do? Why’s she going out with you?’ He’s very cautious and protective and it’s kind of bled down to me.” It clouds a record that occasionally shows steady growth, but this potential remains largely untapped. ‘Forget Me’s subtle – and we do mean subtle – groove is more lively than his debut album’s limp and uniformed piano ballads, while on ‘Heavenly Kind of State Of Mind’ there’s a touch of the Americana-tinged soundscape that’s worked for Sam Fender. ‘Leave Me Slowly’ is so indebted to ‘80s power-ballads – including a hair-raising, grin-inducing guitar solo – that there’s a sense of confidence and joy in flipping the script somewhat. The audience stops singing before loud boos are heard. "We can't be fighting," the 26-year-old singer continues. The crowd then erupts into laughter as he adds: "What a weird song to fight to. Bizarre, bizarre."
