About this deal

Take a look at some of the models 3D printed with the Artillery Sidewinder X1 to see what it's capable of. It is a budget Titan Aero Volcano clone, and instead of using the characteristic single-piece frontplate and heatsink, it’s these two parts that are just screwed together dry. There’s no profiles for PETG or any other materials included – and with this “improved” hotend, the printer caps out at around 240, or at most 250°C before the PTFE starts to get damaged. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The major assets of this 3D printer are its Direct Drive extruder, and its silence during printing (it is one of the quietest 3D printers I have tried so far).

The Artillery Sidewinder is often recommended as the top contender for the best affordable large format 3D printer alongside the Creality CR-10S Pro. I took the opportunity to add a second tray on top of the original tray to avoid damaging it during this test. Before I jump into the electrical and electronics, which are… a pain point for this printer, let’s quickly stick with the heated components, the heated bed, where prints should stick to, and that does work well. Loading and slicing files in Cura is easy, especially with the included print profiles for the Sidewinder X1.Direct Drive Extruder - With Extruder, it makes your printer more reliable, especially for flexible filaments. The Artillery Sidewinder X1 can be successfully used for rapid prototyping, creation of props, accessories, figurines, household items, and much more.

There are also vent holes in the left and right sides of the base, that allow cool air to be taken in.PLA+ prints stick super well, I print first layer at 80C (Ultrabase coating advice) and then at the 3rd layer, I let the bed cool to 60C. Make sure that the wheels from the extruder are tightened and there is no play when trying to wiggle the extruder assembly. What this means is that we meet all the requirements defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. Make sure to create a couple of small test prints before printing big to ensure that everything is finely tuned.

The 220v plate is insulated, which should allow a much faster heating and a more stable temperature. We prefer glass beds to the flexible beds found in competitive machines such as the Mingda Rock 3 due to how flat the glass bed is.Leveling is achieved by turning 4 knobs at the bottom corners of the bed to raise or lower the bed to the correct height. To be honest, i can’t understand why this insulator is not used by any 3D printer manufacturer, considering that it helps a lot and the cost to implement it is next to nothing.
