About this deal

I can honestly say that, based on the brief conversations that I was lucky enough to have with them, their OWN love and dedication to KISS is greater than we might imagine. I enjoyed the songs on the first and only KISS album I owned, but they sounded much, much different tonight—almost like they were being played way too quickly.

How those money matters paid in relation to the Kiss Partnership agreement was a different matter, for which there is currently no documentary evidence from which to attempt to draw conclusions. Everything that happened to KISS is due to what these men were beforehand, and to wave it off—as sometimes the band itself has done over the years, by dismissing their earlier bands and ignoring the work of the subsequent band members from the 1980s onward—is to diminish the history of KISS itself. As he recorded Out of Control, The Spinners had a massive hit with their cover of that song in May 1980. We had done this before, and the DJ described us by saying, The KISS Army have arrived like a hoard of painted devils.

With that also comes the ability to admit that sometimes, yes, there have been some very silly things KISS has involved itself with over the years. His album would have earned the same favorable royalty rate adopted from the 1977 Casablanca agreement, had its sales recouped the advances paid. Since 1973 KISS has recorded over 20 studio albums; been recognized as an innovator in rock presentations; witnessed a firestorm of rumors and controversies; remained a thorn in critics' sides; and continues to surprise its massive fan-following the KISS Army with various career twists and turns. The pop-adult contemporary label was indicative of the problem the album faced, with Peter wanting to be taken more seriously and hoping for a more mature audience. The KissFAQ Podcast is a weekly chat show featuring members of the KissFAQ message board and other guests discussing a wide variety of KISS-related topics.

He admitted his new vulnerability during that interview, explaining, “One night I’m going to be backstage and someone’s going to say, ‘Five minutes, Peter,’ and I’m going to have to walk out there without makeup on.

This exploration digs through an incomplete list but contains enough — with additions from print — to paint a picture. What did “difficult act” mean, suffice it to suggest that it was one that offered an abnormal level of challenge — which could apply to any artist. Another piece, building on the natural press of Peter’s departure from the group, was innocuous: “The kids who are Kiss’s dyed-in-the-wool fans supposedly don’t want to see their rock idols without their weird makeup. In just 672 words, Peter exhorted the virtues of “Beth,” noted his exclusion from press and attention within Kiss, and exuded a rediscovered enthusiasm for music: “Everything’s happening to me all at once, and it’s all so exciting… I don’t believe my luck, because I’ve had such rough luck in my time” (Yardena Arar, AP, via Charlottesville Daily Progress, 9/26/1980). The band has only added to the debates with promises to never do a ballad let alone perform one live, to never get the original group back together, or to put the makeup back on or take it off.

It would be this band that recorded this demo which would turn up on KISS bootlegs for decades even though it was so obvious who it was singing! History of Stage Name: By the early 1970s, Simmons was beginning to get work doing background vocals on songs for other artists (Lyn Christopher and Tommy James to name a couple of verified examples).
