About this deal

When a disturbance occurs in the town and strange things start happening, Lance knows it is related to the activities at Crater Lake. His suspicions become stronger when Miss Hoche reappears on the scene. There are three rules for surviving Crater Lake: don’t go anywhere with an adult; don’t follow any instructions you’re given; and don’t ever fall asleep… On their way to Crater Lake, they came to a sudden halt followed by a crunch. The coach had hit someone. Then a guy came up to the side of the bus and “SPLAT” his bright red bloody hand thumped against the side of the window. He shouted “DON’T GO TO CRATER LAKE!” The children couldn’t understand what was wrong with it. This was a griping read, I extended reading for pleasure time in class so I could get through an extra chapter. Dark, brilliantly written, super cool but not cheesy and chilling. Better than book 1? 🤔 yes, I think it just might be! Definitely read Crater Lake first as it gives a better grounding for the events in this book. Next to aliens we also have friendships and making up. Because after Crater Lake things just broke apart for our group. Maks got a girlfriend, Ade and Kat weren’t being so nice to each other, Chets is still not OK with Karim (though we do find out that has a different reason than normal). I am happy to say that it fitted with the story. We needed all these teens to save the world. These kids knew what happened in Crater Lake and they are up for the challenge again.

All of them then had to get off the bus and walk all the way to the gate. It seemed a bit odd that they were not greeted by any Crater Lake staff and that they had to wait half an hour to meet Digger, the manager of Crater Lake. There was something creepy about this place! Thanks so much for your lovely message and for everything that you do with Book Wagon. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Maybe it’s the bloodstained man who tries to stop the coach, maybe it’s the absence of welcoming staff, but something is definitely not right at Crater Lake activity centre. Then, at night, things get much, much stranger … but no matter what happens, don’t – ever – fall asleep! Get this exciting scary adventure book today! After our ‘girlie’ book last month I was determined to choose something totally different this month. Cue Crater Lake a horror/thriller style book with Lance ‘Fang’ at the centre. I was flying solo this month with no actual hands on book club. The comments below are therefore mine and mine only as a 38 year old woman, not as an 11 boy which the story is more probably aimed at. Are we in America? Every Year 6 class has a residential trip and this book is about a class who are the first people to go to a new place called Crater Lake. The main characters in this book are Lance and his friends Chetan, Katja, Big Mak and Adrianne and throughout the book we see how close their friendship is.There's been an explosion at the University, a mysterious test creature is missing and no one is allowed in or out of the town. On top of this Lance has lost touch with his friends since starting at his new school. And now his mum has been acting strangely since they started decorating the Christmas tree... As he goes door to door trying to reunite his team, Lance realises how bad things have got. Now he, Katja, Max, Chets and Ade, plus new friend Karim, must think bigger and bolder if they are to save their families. But there's something else out there too - something straight out of their nightmares... This fast paced adventure story is the perfect follow-up to the popular Crater Lake. This is one to move onto when you’ve read Crater Lake, but that really isn’t a hardship because as debut books go, it’s an absolute corker. Karim, our new boy, I loved that guy so much. He brought some much needed lightness into the book with his jokes, his hair and how he loves that a tad too much to the point that we find out why people in his house aren’t contaminated, his comments on what is happening, and more. It is his first alien invasion and while he was scared for a lot of parts he also kept cool and did his very best to defeat the aliens along with his friends. Life has been crazy since the summer, and there have been times when I genuinely didn’t think we’d make it through. But here we are. I guess life will always throw change at you, and there will be times when people have to go their own way for a while. But knowing that I have people in my life who will always be there when it really matters makes me feel like I can face anything.

This inaugural stay at Crater Lake is going to be a fight for survival between a bunch of mismatched teens and a swarm of unexpected enemies. Montmorency School’s Form Six students are fortunate to be the first school party to spend a few days at Crater Lake. Or are they? i like how it is a creepy book and how they warn there class mates not to go to sleep over wise they wont be human. When the man who appeared at the start and said "Do not go into the lake."It is Christmas time and several months have passed since Lance and his friends returned from the nightmare school residential at Crater Lake. Having survived the big-ass wasp like creatures, the once tightly-knit group of friends have gone their separate ways and are settling into life at new high schools. Old friends have been replaced by new ones and personalities are rapidly changing as Lance and his old gang adapt to their new school surroundings where they are all just trying to fit in. I would recommend this book to multiple of my friends in and out of school and really enjoyed being able to read such a great book. The reason being it had me gripped and every sentence was leaving me hooked and I couldn't put it down. This book is a wonderful continuation of the themes developed in its predecessor - horror, comedy, friendship, bravery and trust - but the difficult transition of the principal characters from primary to secondary school gives it an added dimension. All are coming to terms with new friendship dynamics while at the same time having to band together to defeat a now more sophisticated enemy. The horrifying zombies have mutated and are now even more gruesome (think mandibles and stingers!) but the age-perfect comedy provides a perfect balance.
