About this deal

Ginger: Everyone, just everyone has lost it, and they actually think there's something wrong with me..!

My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had. I have seen this book before but passed on it. Whatever the reason I was compelled to buy it. The book is written well my main disappointment was based because the suspense and murder are the main focus. When her daughter's bones are discovered years later, Laurel feels she can finally move on with her life. She meets a man at a cafe not long after the burial of her favorite child.

Forget about solving all these crimes; the signal triumph here is (spoiler) the heroine’s survival. This episode was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (Less Than One Hour) in 2003. It ended up losing to The Simpsons. Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels. While there are a few key plot twists, there weren’t any that really caught me off guard. There’s a few instances of plot points where seems like the book is pointing in a specific direction, but since it’s a mystery, I kept expecting to be wrong about it. When it turns out it’s exactly what you think it sounds like, that’s a little disappointing. MY THOUGHTS: I loved this book. I love Lisa Jewell's writing. I love her characters. I wanted, so badly, to know what happened, but I wanted the book never to end. I think I am addicted. I have started another of this author's books straight away. And I seldom, if ever, do that.

Prologue

Lisa Jewell knows how to take a classic storyline and make it her own. Most of her plots are traditional tales that have been told before in some form, but the difference is that she knows how to take something that could be predictable and put her own spin on it. The atmosphere, characterization, and raw emotion that is infused into each of her novels elevates their status to something that few suspense novelists have attained. The blending of multiple genres in each of her books really creates a unique reading experience; readers of every gender and walk of life have been able to connect with her writing and I feel that's a sure sign of the highest quality of writing. To be honest, this seemed more like it was written for a young-adult audience just dipping a toe into the world of thriller novels (I would call this a stepping stone between books like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and the grittier, more adult books. It's not quite as childish as the former, but not quite thrilling enough to appeal to adults either).
