About this deal

Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Trying not to be limited by just the people we’re locked down with, we’ve also been experimenting at playing games online with friends situated elsewhere in the country using Skype, a couple of cameras and a bit of pre-planning. This Version is from 1971 by Parker , This is a Game where the players set their own victory conditions. If a player completes a single occupation path several times, they can pick up multiple experience cards. Completion of an occupation path enables a player to pick up an 'experience' card, which they can use instead of rolling the dice.

The whole presentation had a much cheaper feel than past incarnations, with poorer quality game cards and board art. True to Parker Brothers, things get a bit more complex with other game elements, including special game board spaces and unique situations presented by Experience and Opportunity cards, that alter gameplay.

Generation X was born, by broadest definition, between 1961 and 1981, the greatest anti-child cycle in modern history. Parker Brothers ads, including those for Careers, were placed in 30 magazines, and commercials were put on 60 television stations.

Along with other changes in the game, rules changes in the later versions included receiving only 1 Experience Card anytime you graduated from a career (as opposed to the 2 or 3 I mentioned earlier). We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. We have enjoyed our morning Hnefatafl and coffees, as we turn our minds to the Viking mode of simulated war. Most of these favorite family games, like Careers, were “throw-dice-and-move” games based primarily on luck.

S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. The Education and Skills cards help players learn about the importance of formal education and specific skills for various careers. Players earned University degrees – not college degrees – in Physical Education, Business, Science, or Law. If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

Some fame, happiness and money ("victory points") can be obtained on the outer track, but victory points can be obtained more quickly on the occupation paths. The Opportunity cards allow you to move to the career stated on the card, and four of the cards also give you free tuition to 4 different career paths.Object of the game: The object of the game of Careers is to "succeed" but just as in real life, each player has his own idea of what success really means.

For example "Farming" became "Ecology", "Sea" became "Teaching", "Uranium Prospecting" became "Sports", and the "Park Bench" corner, (representing no career), became the "Unemployment Office".Although there isn’t a modern day version of Careers in production right now, there have been various different versions over the years.
