About this deal

Because the Sweetheart plant is on the list of easy-to-grow houseplants, they thrive in average room temperatures. Keep the indoor temperature between 65°F to 80°F (18°C – 27°C) for best growth. Usually, these heart-shaped leaf Hoyas grow faster in warmer temperatures. These succulent-like plants don’t tolerate the cold below 50°F (10°C). Hoya kerrii has heart shaped leaves hence is also called sweetheart hoya or Valentine hoya. It thrives in bright light. Hortus Camdenensis http://hortuscamden.com/plants/view/dicentra_spectabilis_l._lem Retrieved at 10.16 on Monday 21/3/22. Foxglove tree, also known as Empress tree contains very large heart-shaped leaves up to a foot long with a velvety texture and fragrant.

This means don't wait long periods between watering's just because you can. Do be careful not to overdo it though! The soil should never be saturated or boggy as this will lead to rotting. Take special care if the pot it comes in has no drainage holes. People mistake the bright colored modified leaves of this plant for blossoms. The spathaceous bracts are in the strikingshade of red looking waxy and heart-shaped in appearance. This exotic houseplant grows best in dappledshade, receiving bright indirect sunlight during the day. 3. Arrowhead Plant As a slow growing plant, your hoya kerrii should be repotted every couple of years, using a slightly bigger container each time. Repotting is necessary to encourage your Sweetheart Hoya plant to grow well. As the roots fill up the pot, transferring to a larger container gives the roots more room to grow. However mature vining Hoya kerrii plants need to be rootbound and growing in bright light for them to flower. If you are using water, the water should be refreshed once a week. If you are using sphagnum moss, ensure that the moss remains moist and does not dry out. This one is a beautiful houseplant that has vining "strings" with green and white heart-shaped leaves and a pretty violet shade on the underside. 3. Flamingo Flower - Anthurium Sweetheart Hoya plants have succulent leaves that store moisture. So, their watering needs are minimal. However, you should water these sweetheart plants as often as the potting soil dries out. In some cases, this could be every four weeks or even less in the winter. It’s best to drench the soil to hydrate the roots thoroughly. The variegated variety will often produce new vines which have completely green leaves. This is usual in the world of plants, it's generally thought that an all green leaf is more efficient for a plant when it comes to photosynthesis than one with variegated leaves.

Take off the leaves from the bottom half of the stem cutting. Fill the container with the potting mix, and poke a hole in the center of the soil. Dip the cut end of the cutting into rooting hormone, and put it into the hole. Firm the soil around the stem. No matter what anyone tells you, you really don't need any fancy compost or soil, just use a potting mix that is similar to what the bulbs were growing in previously. Keep the pot reasonably warm and reduce watering until the bulbs have established fully and are producing new shoots. Speed of Growth Expect a max height of 25cm / 10in and it will spread to fill the size of the container you have put it in. A large wide container will mean a wide overall plant (see the first photo at the very start of the article to see how wide yours could get!). Flowers The Sweetheart Plant often grows slowly. We discuss this above, but basically the only remedy here is patience or to buy a plant with several established leaves already.
