Callum Smith, Assistant Brand Manager for KitKat said: "It’s that time of the year again, when we delight KitKat Chunky fans with innovative new flavours from the brand. The 42g limited edition bars (RRP 70p) will be available in a wide range of major UK retailers, including wholesale and convenience stores, from 2 August. While gourmet popcorn is usually gone the night my family makes it, but if you happen to have any left, be sure to store it in an airtight container. If stored properly it should stay fresh for up to a week. The launch will be supported with social media and out of home activitation that will also include KitKat Chunky Milk and KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter.

I have a thing for candied popcorn and I’m constantly trying new versions. Popcorn with candy bars and various add-ins is a great way to get that salty/sweet flavor combination that so many love!

The KitKat Chunky was launched in 1999 and over the years it has been frequently innovated to deliver standout flavours, including Peanut Butter, Hazelnut, Coconut, Chocolate Fudge and New York Cheesecake. Whether it’s for a special afternoon treat, a trip to the cinema or simply to put a smile in your break, we believe this is one of our best KitKat Chunky flavours yet – and we hope consumers agree!" Callum from KitKat added in the release: "Caramel is officially the nation’s number one flavour*, and we’ve taken it to the next level by combining a delicious layer of runny caramel with our crisp KitKat wafer to create a taste sensation. When we trialled the newest Chunky flavour at Nestlé House we got a rapturous response, so we can’t wait to hear what everybody thinks!" I was extremely wrong. Popcorn Kit Kat Chunky pretty much hits you in the face with popcorn flavour. Watch: I tried tinned tomatoes from Aldi, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, M&S and others - and one tasted like water

KitKat Chunky was launched in 1999 and over the years it has been frequently innovated to deliver exciting flavours, including Peanut Butter, Hazelnut, Coconut, Chocolate Fudge and New York Cheesecake. This is a new UK flavour of Kit Kat, not an imported one as much as we love those it is nice to see bars which are more widely available here. The UK can’t compete with Japan’s Kit Kat selection but to be fair we do get a few nice varieties of our own. However like many British Kit Kats this new bar looks like it has fallen victim to caramel thinking (the idea that if you flavour it with caramel it will sell). We have had a lot of variations of caramel Kit Kat in the past, fudge caramel, salted caramel, gold caramel to name just a few. Here we have Kit Kat Chunky Salted Caramel Popcorn. At least there is a twist of popcorn too, it does make it a bit more interesting. This summer, discover a deliciously sweet and salty break with the launch of limited edition KitKat Chunky Salted Caramel Popcorn. How To Make Homemade Gourmet Popcorn

My assumption was that the white stuff on top of the wafer would be some kind of popcorn-flavoured paste, but there are actual bits of popcorn in there, and their flavour is surprisingly strong. It’s mildly buttery, slightly salty, and actually compliments the toasty wafers and the sweet chocolate surprisingly well. The chunks are also large enough to add a bit of their own texture on top of the crispiness of the wafers. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the popcorn version of Kit Kat Chunky. Considering that Kit Kat Chunky’s cookie dough variety basically doesn’t taste like cookie dough at all, I sort of figured that this would be more of the same. It’s more of a fun novelty than anything else, but if you’re intrigued by the combination of Kit Kat + popcorn, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised. The salted caramel popcorn flavour is there but it is subtle. If you are looking for a strong flavouring this is not for you, but if you like a subtle hint of something different you will love this. Interestingly the flavour is much stronger than the taste - you get a real waft of the salted caramel.

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. If they haven’t fully melted, continue to heat them in 15 second increments until completely melted The latest addition to the KitKat Chunky line up, the 42g bar features the brand's classic wafer alongside an indulgent layer of salted caramel popcorn filling, all covered by KitKat’s trademark smooth milk chocolate. The limited edition KitKat Chunky Caramel 43.5g bar (RRP 70p) will be available from supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide from 28 July.
