Try driving a 1964 Mini Cooper S in Sweden, among snowy spruces, and note the hard, flinty smoothness of the turns. The weather, too, though not dynamic, plays a fine supporting role. One run, along a sunny alpine ridge, feels starkly different to a similar setting after the rain; you go from sliding neatly round dry and crumbly bends, as if the course had been dusted with instant coffee granules, to a pebble-crammed slurry of doom. That big 50th Anniversary mode is an important part of this year’s game, and it’s by far the biggest injection of historical content to the series since KT Racing started adding classic cars in WRC 8. With its own separate menu and period photography it does feel quite special at first, although there’s ultimately not really a great deal to it. They’re just a small collection of time trials with a little bit of text to explain the historical context of what you’re about to do. The only other caveat is the asphalt handling, which has been tweaked, but perhaps not for the better – at least, not for controller players. The sheer responsiveness of the cars on asphalt is acceptable on my Thrustmaster TS-XW racing wheel, but on a controller it’s extremely twitchy and very difficult to sling high-powered cars into drifts without oversteering instantly. I’ve tried dulling the sensitivity and adjusting the steering linearity but I don’t think I’ve found the right solution yet.

Ride 4 didn't impress (fair ideas, but hard/impossible even on easy for me to play the AI are too professional not matter the cornering, the settings I gave up after many hours of trying) enough so Ride 5 not interested really (if like Ride 1 & 2, 3 & 4 were changes and 5 is like 4 in a way so nah pass) if it's similar so little racing games I care for of current gen (besides little care already for it of other titles right now and just playing PS4 versions or PS4 old games right now besides retro games for older consoles). NFS open worlds (or any open world racing) aren't for me. GT7/Forza Motorsport haven't interested me. So I don’t know if I’ll like this game or not. Especially now that EA has their microtransaction-y hands all over it. Snow is also a notable offender, especially considering how great it looks in 2022’s WRC Generations from Kylotonn. In the latter, snow glistened and clumped on the verges of the roads. In WRC it mostly looks like dirt painted matt white. I had figured this might have been a side effect of the fact WRC boasts the nifty ability to customise seasons to race stages in different conditions (and that there was a summertime environment masked underneath the snow effect). However, it turns out Sweden and the equally snowy (but fictional) Nordic event Rally Scandia are actually the only two rallies in WRC I can’t select a different season for. Dirt Rally 2.0 was so hardcore that it took the fun out of rally games, and Dirt 5 is unrecognizable as a rally game. The new generation of WRC game is upon us with the launch of EA Sports WRC (not the catchiest of names). This new rally game will be the official WRC game moving forward, with the license being taken over from previous developer Kylotonn. Fixed an issue where the game would crash while completing a Season of Career after winning the WRC2 Championship. Phew! Now that's a patch. DonkeyFantasy IIRC, the first Dirt game was a rebranded sequel to the Colin McRae games. But over time, the Dirt sequels became more and more arcade-y. The Dirt Rally games were made to give people a more hardcore sim series — alongside the Dirt releases — and this EA WRC game is a rebranded sequel to those. The screen tearing has been quite jarring in my experience so far. I was disappointed to see this occur on WRC 10 because WRC 9 didn't seem to have this issue on Balanced Mode. Option to increase subtitles size. Includes colour blind settings for people with deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia. Mono Mix can be adjusted, and the left and right audio channels can be re-balanced. Full button remapping, and extensive options for driving assists.

Fixed an issue where framerate would be negatively impacted by the number of peripherals connected to a player’s PC. Grid Legends was great. WRC 2023 has Sega GT Dreamcast's feature but expanded upon I assume yes please wanted that for years now. Besides I assume other noteworthy things.
