Connecting the Ender 3 to the PC allows you to upgrade the software or firmware directly, without the need for using external drives. Direct Computer Control Yet another noise mod—addingthese dampersto your X- and Y-axis stepper motors decreases the noise they generate by 5-10dB. This is a simple, inexpensive mod with a measurable noise reduction impact. 12 – Firmware upgrade With the BLTouch, you can use any type of bed and need only swap out the plastic nozzle if it’s damaged. There’s also a ton of support and articles that can help you if you run into trouble using your BLTouch. Installing the BLTouch Extra support beams beneath the baseplate and tighter construction of the printer as a whole, introduced in the Ender 3 Pro, means that any model built after this has a distinct stability advantage over the standard. Production QualityIn Pronterface, for instance, all you have to do is choose the correct port (the specific name as shown in Device Manager) and the 128000 rate. You can then hit the Connect button and wait until the software prompts you that the printer is online.

The Ender 3 is certainly the best value for money in the series, and maybe in the entire industry altogether. You can compare it to the premium version in our Ender 3 vs Ender 5 guide. Conclusion: Which Ender 3 3D printer should you buy? The real test, though, is in the printing. If the object you're trying to print pulls off the bed, or if it adheres better on one side of the platform than the other, it's still out of alignment, and so you'll have to tweak it again. Also, even when it is set properly, the bed can lose alignment over time and have to be readjusted. The Ender 3 V2 has a maximum extruder temperature of 255°C, while the other three models are capable of reaching a slightly higher 260°C. Higher temperatures mean you can print tougher filaments like ABS, Nylon, ASA — and if you can reach super high temperatures, PC and PEEK. The BLTouch by Antclabs is an add-on electrical component for a 3D printer that uses a sensor stem to detect any tilt in the bed surface. It’s built to use very little power at idle and use so that it can be installed directly in the Ender 3’s mainboard, without any heat issues. What about other auto-leveling sensors? I’ll explain all the differences to help you decide which Ender 3 is best for you. The Creality Ender 3 SeriesThe spool-holder dowel is held in place on the spool holder with a plastic nut, about an inch in diameter. The nut comes attached to the dowel and should unscrew from it in a manner similar to opening a child-proof cap to a pill bottle. Try as I might, though, I couldn’t get the nut to budge by hand. I ultimately had to remove it using a wrench that could open wide enough to securely grasp it. Creality's Ender-5 Pro, which I tested concurrently with the V2, uses the same dowel-and-nut combo, but I was able to separate them on the first try, no wrench needed. Considering that you should never plug in other devices when using the 3D printer, unplug the splitter and plug your Ender 3 directly into your PC. Custom firmware can be build using the Configurator and following the guidelines in the Special Configurations repository: precompiled binaries of Ender 3S1 F4, for the F4 with UBL version more standard feature had to be removed. Implements a user option for centering the menu title by defining TITLE_CENTERED in configuration files However, if you enjoy living dangerously and pushing technology to the limit, all four models are able to work at up to 180mm/s, although this does come with a major caveat of being highly unreliable and you’ll lose print quality. The Ender 3 Max is the go-to choice for a large 3D printer, but if you’re not planning on printing super-large projects, it’ll be down to these next factors that affect your choice of Ender 3 3D printer: Build Speed The sheet metal casing surrounding the circuitry not only gives the printer a more professional aesthetic but is also a lot safer as there are no loose electrics or bare wires.

Creality’s crowning glory, and their most popular line, is the Ender 3 series of FDM 3D printers. The original was a runaway success, and with the Ender 3 Pro, V2, and Max now available, we compare the differences and make our recommendations. Ender 3 There are several special configurations here: https://github.com/mriscoc/Special_Configurations/releases Additionally, Creality have added a new tensioner to the timing belt to make printing much smoother and fix the reported stability issues.Ender 3S1: use this version if you have an Ender 3S1 printer with CRTouch, (F1 is for the STM32F103 and F4 is for the STM32F401 SoC) To either side of the build platform stands a semi-hollow vertical beam known as an extrusion (not to be confused with the extruder, or printing nozzle). The pair is bridged at the top by a crossbar. Another horizontal beam, which can move up and down between the extrusions by means of a vertical screw and small rubber wheels, holds the extruder, which also slides side to side. The spool holder for your filament is attached to the top crossbar, and an LCD is bolted onto the base, to the right of the build platform. In testing, I printed 10 sample objects, all at the standard 200-micron resolution. Overall print quality was slightly above average. For the most part, the Ender-3 V2 did well in rendering detail, though it had some problems on the bottom side of overhangs. There were a few misprints; except in one case, they occurred at the very beginning of prints, with the first layers not adhering well and the object soon pulling off the print bed. This was corrected by re-leveling the print bed.
