About this deal

Couldn't put the book down! I love Cathy Glass' work and this was no different. A really personal memoir and all the more touching as Lucy features in other books too." This is perfectly understandable, considering the delicate nature of the material that Glass covers. Readers who typically enjoy Cathy Glass books are individuals who are partial to genres that are inspirational memoirs or true life stories. Glass started writing in her spare time, when she wasn’t busy caring for her family, including her various foster children.

Will You Love Me?: The story of my adopted daughter Lucy

Lucy’s story could have a happy ending but it could so easily have been different. Policy and priorities need to change so that every child has a permanent family of their own as soon as possible. I am very proud of all of my children not only for what they have achieved but also for the people they have become. As usual this is a very engaging read which gives insight into the range of responsibilities that are part of being a foster parent. Not only is Cathy caring for the child she also takes on a key role in the broader dynamics of the family. It's always a very grounding experience to read CG's sensible approach to the difficulties that life throws at everyone (those permanently in her life as well as those she cares for temporarily). She has strong morals which she is unafraid to share but always considers the sensitivities of others around her. Whilst she is clear about her views she would never hurt anyone by speaking inappropriately. That doesn't stop her being clear and straightforward. A well written story, Cathy writes in such a way it draws you in from the start. A moving story of a young girl (Tilly) with a bit of a twist…" Tao formerly lived in Nigeria, but was kidnapped by his mother and taken to the UK illegally. To help support her debauched life of drinking, and drugs, his abusive mother was a prostitute. The mother cast Tayo out onto the streets after he sustained an injury and was no longer able to earn money for the woman. Based on the horrors that he suffered on the streets of Central London, Glass wrote that she had never met a child that showed the kind of strength as Tayo. He had the kind of inner resolve that she had never seen before. Continued Success Fantastic book. Sad, but a story that must be told. I was gripped right from the beginning. I would definitely recommend this book. Nice keeping up to date with Cathy and her lovely family."

WILL YOU LOVE ME? LUCY’S STORY | Cathy Glass

Anyway, this book tells the story of Tilly who is 14 and has requested to go into care as she can no longer live with her mother and step-father. Her SF is abusive towards her mother, manipulative and cruel. Tilly can't put up with it anymore and goes to social services and demands to live elsewhere. Lucy was born to a single mother who had been abused and neglected for most of her own childhood. Right from the beginning Lucy's mother couldn't cope, but it wasn't until Lucy reached eight years old that she was finally taken into permanent foster care.Having read all of Cathy Glass’ books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody. The continued success that Cathy Glass experienced following her first two books is evident in popular titles like: “Cut” and I struggle reviewing books like this because they are stories about people's lives. They're real, and they're unpleasant, and I feel a little bad about reading about people's unhappiness. However, I do really enjoy these books, and I feel that Cathy Glass does a very good job in making people aware of what awful things go on behind closed doors. I have dabbled in fostering, and it's hard and heartbreaking to witness what people do to children. As soon as I get a book by Cathy Glass I have to read it straight away… not only an author but a wonderful and very caring lady…"

I've just had to give up on a book of which I had high expectations so needed a replacement to settle me and Cathy Glass books are consistently good quality.

About the Author

Access-restricted-item true Addeddate 2021-11-02 15:08:17 Boxid IA40277917 Camera USB PTP Class Camera Collection_set printdisabled External-identifier Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the beginning. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly distressed. This is the story of my adopted daughter, Lucy, who came to me as a foster child and stayed for good.

Will You Love Me? :HarperCollins Australia

Having read all of Cathy Glass' books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody." In the other books I'd read, Cathy's own children were a lot younger and it was nice to read about them as adults and be updated on their lives. The eleventh memoir and latest title from the internationally bestselling author and foster carer Cathy Glass. This book tells the true story of Cathy's adopted daughter Lucy. This story is about Tilly (14) and her growing up in a house with domestic abuse. There are things that come up, that in a fictional book, we might call plot twists. Tilly manages to get out of the situation, leaving her mother and stepfather to sort themselves out. Things are rarely straight forward, even when you’re thinking, ‘things couldn’t get any worse.’Adrian, Lucy and Paula are all young adults now. Adrian went away to study at university and then returned home. Lucy and Paula went to local colleges and university. Excellent as usual from this author. I have great admiration for this author having worked with young people and while I know there are people who believe that they are the stories from the children she cares for, I also believe they are hers too. She has taken a long road from when her own children were small and she and her husband began on the road of fostering. She las learned so much through these years and I believe a lot of parents/ carers could and do learn a lot from reading her books. The names of those involved are changed and the development of the family joins the lessons learned from fostering, by all of the family.
