I suppose the reason it was happening earlier was because Avid was using the UK keyboard and Windows was using the US one and there was a miss match. Late to the party but I've been using a standard slimline one from Editors keys for years and have had no issues with it. With one wire for the USB hub and a separate one for the keyboard, the ASTRA series is ideal for editing systems that use USB KVM extenders, and installations that require data security.
The shortcut commands labeled on the keys, and their color-coded definitions makes you a Master of controlling Avid Media Composer in no time. It does help to know the defaults if you are assisting though, just so you can use the standard setup on other users keyboards. Only gripe I have it that for the money, I'd want a built in USB port like the Apple slimline keyboard has. The Media Composer dedicated Logickeyboard also features all the regular letters, numbers, and symbol labelling that you will find on a conventional keyboard, it can simply be used as a substitute for it. That's one reason why pilots have a cockpit, even though you can fly a plane on a keyboard and mouse on Microsoft flight simulator.
I bought a backlit Editor's Keys first when my trustly old Avid keyboard gave up the ghost, it was flimsy, poorly made and didn't work. However, I see that there are now wireless and back-lit models made by Editors Keys, although they look like chiclet keyboards and I think I prefer mechanical. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
