Otherwise, you’ll hurt enemies in Kukoos – Lost Pets by jumping on them or rolling into them. This works decently but the camera angles can make it sort of hard to do what you want. This game could really use 3D World‘s camera adjustment to give players even a bit of extra leeway to see their surroundings. The camera also occasionally changes to a top-down view, which is a bit jarring. But there are a lot of mechanics in the levels themselves, such as the trains in the second world. This is a rather creative game, it just needs some work. Join the Kukoos in their quest to find their aggressive and unruly pets after a failed experiment and restore harmony to their once peaceful home. The four worlds are so different and creative, and the creature’s abilities are refreshingly varied. It was an absolute delight to play and watch. I’m looking forward to replaying the levels and finding all those secret spots.

You see, each world grants you a pet that the levels are designed around you using. The second world is a pet that can make a platform, a really fun idea! However, when you are carrying the pet, your jump basically completely disappears. This didn’t happen with the first pet so having this change come in so suddenly is pretty jarring and it takes quite a while to get used to the way your ability to move changes so often. You’re not using these pets just once in a while, it’s constant. Additionally, the pet is on a short leash, so there’s no letting go of them to get through a platform section and then call them to you, you’ve got to be changing your jump up all the time. Poorly Trained Lost Pet starts with a competition. The titular Kukoos, who are cute monkey people, have pets that allow them to use special abilities, and they’re competing to see who and their pets come out on top. You’re given the choice between a boy or a girl and are dropped into the competition, which is really just the game’s tutorial. Your character’s pets let them basically fly and glide forward, and you need to use them to progress through an obstacle course. But a Kukoo with a giant green frog wearing a collar shows up and puts the other contestants to shame.
