About this deal

If the firmware has become corrupted and the copy of the current release of the firmware held on hard disk is also corrupted then it may have to rely on the copy of the base firmware that the box was manufactured with? It will only store what is told for the multiplexes with PSB content. For the others it appears to choose the one it comes across first. She just uses the box as a Freeview PVR and for the free catch up players as well as the Netflix app.

Apologies to resurrect this thread. I have just installed a new one of these which I bought in 2015. I bought it and then got a sky deal so it just stayed in its box. Multi room subscription finishes today so thought it best to install it in the bedroom for the wife. No, it's not the 4K box. It's the most recent version of the BT YouView box with a 500 GB hard disk. It's set to output 1080p via HDMI.If you're a BT customer, you'll know that BT has been working on refining its hardware offering for the Home Hub and that's reflected in the design of the new BT YouView box. There are no fans, so it’s virtually silent except for the exceptionally quiet whirring of the laptop-style hard drive. Unless you’re right next to the box, this is inaudible, so it’s ideal for bedrooms as well as the living room or kitchen. Note that the Ultra HD version does have a fan, which can be a little irritating in a quiet room. Hmm, my thinking was that if it behaves exactly the same with the HDD out as in, then the HDD is not making itself known, because it has some fault, and so the box is forever looping i.e. trying but failing to make any communication with the HDD.

I had a spare laptop hard disk (Hitachi, 80Gb) so I followed these instructions to fit, and it kinda worked – the box was now ‘alive’, it would record the current programme if I pressed the record button, but anything I set to record failed. Maybe it was something to do with the hard disk not being ‘video’ grade, or the small size…Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears. The new box is now complete with BT branding front and centre, which BT is probably rather pleased about and you most probably don't give a hoot about. The design matches that of the latest generation Home Hub 5. There are 4 other resets and with the appropriate selection you can reload the software and keep your recordings. All in all - if you see a TT box (the 372 model) at the right money, don't be put off by some saying that it's not as good as some other box - it's not at all bad.

West Mids = Sutton Coldfield COM7 = freq.ch 33 @ -4dB... but received via an aerial pointing the wrong way. SC is often very good if not better than Waltham in parts of the E.Mids for the main channels at least... so that may explain why it works when set like that even though the aerial is pointing the wrong way? First impressions. I can believe why Humax didn't want to put their name on the outside. It's rubbish. It's slow, the remote needs a hard press to make it work and the TV tuner on the TV is much superior. Initially I tried it without it being connected to the internet and it seemed fine. As soon as I got it connected using a sky WiFi adapter it updated the software and now I have a much darker screen and is clearer and brighter using the TV tuner. Tested on two TVs and it's the same. I replaced my HDD with a PNY 240GB SSD nearly 3 years ago. It’s still working fine with an average usage of 7 hrs live tv per day. I wonder if TRIM optimisation has be running on the SSD? Select the Recovery option required using the Up and Down arrow buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box and use the Right arrow button to confirm the option. Lastly, on the flip side, if the HDD is ok, is there anyway I can recover the recordings e.g. via PC? Alternatively, if I could get hold of another working DTR2100 cheaply, could I swap the HDDs on them and have the replacement one read the HDD from this box?If you still want the extra hard drive space and have few extra pounds to spend I would buy the T2000 retail box. Some places sell the 1gb version of the box. My sister has the retail T2000 1gb version of the Youview box. Shes had it for almost 18 months now and she seems to like the box. I bought my TalkTalk Youview in Spring of 2015 and very soon realised that my experience was very different to other reports before then. It was very stable and reliable. Struggled to persuade the box to go into Maintenance Mode but after a number of attempts – switch off, press down etc, it eventually did and all up and running now.
