It seems like you can do plenty with the VivoBook 15, but most budget laptops feel this way at first. However, in our two checkpoints, we monitored a 75°C maximum, but the frequency dropped by about 150 MHz. We tested the accuracy of the display with 24 commonly used colors like light and dark human skin, blue sky, green grass, orange, etc.
If you’re not familiar with the Blue light, the TL;DR version is – emissions that negatively affect your eyes, skin, and your whole body. To determine if it’s potent enough for everyday tasks and some light work, we put the VivoBook through our usual set of benchmark tests.
Some are closer than others, though (and the test kept crashing on the MSI Modern 14), and the VivoBook 15 is one of the better performers. Intel Iris Xᵉ Graphics is only available in models with Intel® Core™ i5/i7/i9 processors and dual-channel memory. It's too bad the camera is an after-thought even on budget laptops because there are so many students and professionals who could benefit from the presence of higher quality video. I was able to sift through dozens of Google Chrome tabs, plus shuffle through my cloud-based library in Adobe Lightroom without the fans sounding like they were readying for takeoff.
After fully recharging the laptop, we set up the machine in power-save mode (as opposed to balanced or high-performance mode) where available and make a few other battery-conserving tweaks in preparation for our unplugged video rundown test. However, that doesn’t quite apply to this group of budget-friendly laptops: Integrated graphics can get by when paired with a good processor and plenty of RAM, but these laptops are not providing much of that support, leaving the weak chips to do a lot of lifting on their own. The Midnight’s Deep Blue’s strong melody, for example, came through clearly enough, while the vocals seemed as if they were coming in from a distance. If you opt for a non-dedicated GPU option, you are left with the unpretentious UHD Graphics 600, and the UHD Graphics G1. Most budget laptops can last well over six hours on one charge of the battery, but the VivoBook 15 struggled to hit this mark. That's not super lightweight, but still a far cry from being heavy, and should be able to go in your backpack or bag without much notice.
The Asus VivoBook 15 won’t turn any heads with its performance or design, but all things considered, it’s a decent offering for the cost. Between the whitish sheen and poor viewing angles, the picture quality looks like it does when a built-in laptop privacy filter is active on a business laptop, if you’ve ever used that kind of feature.

We test the reaction time of the pixels with the usual “black-to-white” and “white-to-black” method from 10% to 90% and vice versa. Sadly, though, this means that air that is no longer cool reaches the heat sink and the thermal efficiency of the entire setup is compromised.
