About this deal

I may be a minority here, but I think the 64 was overrated. There really wasn't much beyond the 1st party games, PS1 had the best 3rd party support at that time. But Nintendo's 1st party was very solid at least Semrad, Ed (April 1996). "N64 Delayed... Again?". Electronic Gaming Monthly. No.81. Ziff Davis. p.6. Graphics Processing Functions: Z Buffering, Anti-Aliasing, Realistic texture mapping (Tri-linear mip-map interpolation, environment mapping, perspective correction) Because of the aforementioned titles, primarily Super Mario 64, it sold out entirely in America. The consoles were sold approximately three days earlier than scheduled.

Ultra 64 "Delayed" Until April 1996?". Electronic Gaming Monthly. No.72. Ziff Davis. July 1995. p.26. Not so sure if those sports games and wrestling games even really deserved to be in the top 50...But for the most part you had some really solid games on the list...probably would of been a different top 20 for me...but pretty solid choices for the top 10 Glad Kazooie got a high rank. Finished it again on Gamepass couple weeks ago. Just as good as I remember. Started Tooie straight after ... nowhere near as good. Overcomplicated interweaving levels, spent hours trying to get one Jiggy, not knowing you can only get it once you visit later levels. Decent list. Great top 10. I guess the question we need to ask ourselves is this; do we really need the Hyperkin Ultra Retron? Can we make do with a small television to play our favourite classic N64 games on, keeping the same quality and charm of the original titles without losing key elements of the developers hard work due to a poor framebuffer emulation rate? Sometimes playing games the way they were intended can be the best route to go down if the gameplay becomes compromised in the process; I don’t think I could bear to see Donkey Kong with half a tie or Banjo looking up at jigsaw paintings with no pictures on them. World renowned computer graphics studio makes transition from "The Lawnmower Man" and MTV award-winning music videos to develop game for Nintendo's 64-bit home video game system. There are very few things more exciting to retro gaming fans than an updated version of their favourite console, which is why news of the Hyperkin Ultra Retron is making fans of Mario, Zelda, Banjo, and all of the other best N64 games feel like it’s Christmas 1997 all over again. Just what is it about this classic Nintendo console that sends us into a frenzy? Sure, the change from 32 to 64 bit blew our minds and getting the chance to see our favourite characters in 3D glory was out of this world, but the love of the N64 is more than just holding the device in your hands; it’s a feeling.

Popular Electronics complimented the system's hardware, calling its specifications "quite impressive". It found the controller "comfortable to hold, and the controls to be accurate and responsive". I was always under the impression that it had become one of those obscure cult classics rather than one of the more memorable N64 games. The Nintendo 64 was in heavy demand upon its release. David Cole, industry analyst, said "You have people fighting to get it from stores". [64] Time called the purchasing interest "that rare and glorious middle-class Cabbage Patch-doll frenzy". The magazine said celebrities Matthew Perry, Steven Spielberg, and Chicago Bulls players called Nintendo to ask for special treatment to get their hands on the console.
