About this deal

The Plot Holes #1-5 (script and art, with Matt Hollingsworth, Massive Publishing, September 2023 - December 2023) Biopunk: The moral and theological implications of attempting to clone a religious figure are the foundation for the central conflict of the whole story. In 2006 Murphy illustrated the Dark Horse miniseries Outer Orbit along with miniseries co-creator, Zach Howard. [4] My big takeaway was the tragedy of blind faith. The Christians in the book largely had it– the IRA did as well, in hindsight– but Chris did too. I think his militant atheism is examined, but never glorified by Murphy, and I think it’s meant to be tragic that Chris perishes with that mindset intact.

All Republicans are evil, all Christians are bigots, & America is a country brimming with the fat, lazy, and stupid. I mean, these are just facts, right? Adams, Tim (July 16, 2020). "Batman: White Knight Universe Expands With Harley Quinn Spinoff". Comic Book Resources . Retrieved December 8, 2022. Usually of a group of religious zealots hoarding guns don't have to wait too long before they meet their maker... 'round these here parts. All of the Christians are one-dimensional caricatures. To even say they’re characters is giving Sean Murphy way more credit than he deserves. Murphy is simply a terrible writer - he doesn’t understand nuance or subtlety, so his characters, all of them, are pathetic creations that are totally unconvincing. All Christians are apparently super-crazy, gun-bearing, sign-toting loonies, and atheists are all intelligent, bar none. Like I said I’m not a Christian but I thought this was such a broad and unbelievably dumb swipe that I felt bad for any Christians reading this tripe.Having acquired DNA from the Shroud of Turin (a burial cloth believed to belong to Jesus), a media entertainment company decides to create a clone with the DNA and raise him on a reality show. Of course, to make it truer to the Bible, they decide to implant the egg into an 18-year-old virgin, Gwen Fairling. As he grows up, every aspect of “Chris’ ” life is controlled and manipulated. In school, he’s taught creationism and faith healing. Accidents and events set up by the network are “miracles” to the believing masses.

Murphy's comic book work includes the miniseries Batman/Scarecrow: Year One with writer Bruce Jones for DC Comics and the graphic novel Off Road for Oni Press. While extraordinary, Murphy falters just before the final hurdle. The book ends in very biblical manner with revelations, although these make sense, and a slight leap into the future for some consequences, but before that Chris’ development, until then so believable, has come shuddering to a halt. He’s the dark mirror image of what his mother was when only slightly older. Zorro: Man of the Dead #1-4 (script and art, with Matt Hollingsworth, Massive Publishing, January 2024 - April 2024)American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest (with Scott Snyder, five-issue limited series, Vertigo, August 2011 – December 2011) Would I recommend this to anyone? No. I don’t really regret reading it because it was mildly entertaining and only took me a day. And I gave it an “it was okay” 2 star rating, so really it all just feels like a mild disappointment. Batman: White Knight (script and art, with Matt Hollingsworth, eight-issue limited series, DC Comics, October 2017 - May 2018) The "B" story is about a former IRA terrorist seeking redemption as Chris' bodyguard. When Thomas first came into the story, the reader's first impression would be that this stern guy is a Punisher clone. Thomas ends up more nuanced than Frank Castle. Though his name may suggest the doubting disciple, he's a believer, this Thomas is. In the end there are some questions left unanswered, What happened to Tim? What happened to Dr. Epstein research? was some of it lost in the island fire? Is it getting implemented? What did the audience of the show think about the death of the protagonist?
