Ian has spent 4 days at the printers overseeing the embossing for the Engage book and we hope to have pictures from him soon. I’ve completed 3 piano solos with one more to do, the written lyric sheets I’m managing to keep up with and I’m pleased with the way they look. As Howard himself said in conversation with sleeve note writer Anil Prasad; “This set is a really valuable, historical document. You hear me before the first album was released, after I’ve had success, my evolution from a solo performer to a band-focused performer, and all of it happened across only four years from 1983-1987. There’s so much variety in the sessions, even among songs that appear multiple times. It’s a series of snapshots from a very important time in my career. It’s fascinating for me to listen to and reflect on so many years later. I hope the same holds true for the fans as well.” Additionally Cherry Red records are releasing multi format remasters of the album including an extensive deluxe box set. The EP Action Replay was released in 1986. It included the re-recorded version of "No One Is to Blame". [1] The song was Howard Jones's biggest US hit, reaching number 4 on the chart. [1] However, by this time, his fortunes were changing in his native UK, and "No One Is to Blame" peaked at number 16. His next single, "All I Want", peaked at number 35, and would be his last UK top 40 hit. Jones released his third studio album, One to One, in October 1986, which peaked at number 10 in the UK and would be his last UK hit album, despite achieving gold sales status. [1] [5] Stateside, however, Jones continued to fill large arenas, and the single "You Know I Love You... Don't You?" went top twenty in 1986 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. [ citation needed] Howards' debut challenges the listener to 'challenge their preconceived ideas' and he states... "I think my 80s work still resonates through the generations because of the positive message in the lyrics. I've always believed that music can give the listener a boost, especially when things in life prove challenging. Things can only get better when we realise the power of our own actions and engagement."
