About this deal

Overall, things have improved with the 2.0. The Falcon had a 36V battery which has been upgraded to a 48V one to provide more power. The new model has also gone on a diet, undergoing a 20% reduction in weight despite a 10L increase in grass box capacity. GTech Cordless Lawn Mower Review - How Good Is The Vacuum Manufacturer With Cutting Grass? Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 Review

The Lithium-ion battery technology has improved so much over the last couple of years that now battery powered mowers are a real contender. The Cobra MX51S80V is an exceptional cutter and powerful enough to scythe through even long damp grass without so much as a hiccup. Moreover, the motor speed increases automatically whenever the blade detects extra resistance. And for such a large model, it’s one of the quietest cordless models I’ve ever used.At 29 kilos, this mower isn’t light but the onboard single-speed self propulsion makes using it a breeze. That said, it doesn’t feel too unwieldy even when used without the self propulsion because it has nice big rubber wheels that help make it easy to push. Once removed, the battery can be slid into the included fast charging stand (making sure the “G” faces upwards). The charge time on the mower is only an hour which is far less than any other electric mower we know of. Storing the Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 Traditionally this type of mower has been expensive and although prices are comoing down, a substantial amount of their cost is down to the battery and charger. The motor’s well worth a mention since it features automatic variable speed: in short to medium grass the blade rotates at a steady pace, but as soon as it feels the resistance of longer grass, it speeds up dramatically, cutting the offending fronds with effortless aplomb. I managed to eek just under 40 minutes of running time from the 48v battery, and it took just 60 minutes to charge. As I found, some of the negative comments are due to the grass box being a bit fiddly to fit and some comment that it is too expensive compared to some of its competitors.

Charging the battery cannot be done inside the mower requires removal from the chassis, which is as simple as lifting the clear visor, disengaging a latch and sliding it out. Below I’ll detail all the features and functions of the Gtech Cordless Lawnmower, both good and not so good and then compare to the Gtech Falcon so you understand exactly what you’re getting for your money. The CLM50 lawnmower is designed for small to medium-sized gardens, so if that sounds like you, then the GTech CLM50 is a fantastic option to buy! With regard to the mono blade, I initially thought the same regarding the balance and vibrations, however I didn’t notice anything to worry about. When I was cutting the extremely long grass and the blade was somewhat covered with damp grass, you do notice a slight wobble as the mower starts up. As soon as it is up to speed there is no vibration. To avoid any misunderstandings like the gentleman who bought this for his large lawn, we must note again that this lawn mower is meant as a “mini” version and designed for smaller lawns. That’s why it doesn’t feature a grass box.
